Project management process
Project management is an art and science of planning and organizing the resources that are used in the realization of successful project achievement. Management has to go through many processes that define the achievement of the set objectives. There is a need to honor the preconceived project constraints while aiming at achieving all the project goals.
Project management involves six steps. The first step involves organization of the project. In this step a rough plan of how the project will be carried out is defined. A timeline for completion of the same is also defined and described. A step to step definition of when certain task should be completed is included in this plan.
A detailed project plan is the second stage in which a detailed and well explained description of the project is done. A specific task to be done at a particular time is explained in this stage. Time limit is set upon which a particular task must have been completed.
A detailed design of the project is the third stage. This is a stage in which the inter-relations of particular components and their effective relationships are defined. How elements interact and the description of the same elements is defined in this stage. Acquisition stage forms the fourth step. In this step, all the requirements needed for the achievement of the set objectives are acquired. Once all the required needs are achieved, it is then followed by the implementation of the designed plan. The design is put into operation. Relationship between components is then put into practice.
The sixth stage involves post cut over activities. In this stage practices that involve management of the project are implemented. In order to see that all the activities implemented are in line with the processes put in place.
