Anti-virus software should be installed right away and should also be updated regularly to make it useful in countering advanced threats.
Using the internet properly is a very important thing as most of the security threats including viruses, malware, adware, trojans and so on target personal computers through the internet. The firewall of the operating system or the firewall feature of the anti-virus software needs to be activated all the time. It is important to keep in mind every time a USB drive is connected to the personal computer that the content requires to be scanned immediately before proceeding any further with the content stored in the drive.
The hard-disk drive of the personal computer should be defragmented regularly and periodic virus scans should be done to ensure best performance. The temporary files which get stored in the hard-drive should be deleted regularly as that would increase the speed of the device. It is extremely important to back up the data which is stored for any impending problems which might come up. One should keep the system restore file in the computer. Uninstalling unused programs would also enhance the performance of the computer.
Thus, it is not very complex a task to maintain the personal computer. It takes a little effort and as a result one can enjoy the best performance from the device. It is the responsibility of the user to take the onus on one’s shoulder and ensure a great service from the personal computer.
