Essay On Proposed Euthanasia Parlor

Euthanasia has been a good moral debate for generations. It has challenged the way humanity define life and even love. It has been a moral grey area that is popularly requested for loved ones who are in extreme pain and cannot be relieved from it due to medical pain. Philosophically, one may argue the definition of “pain”, “extreme”, or even “love”. Be that as it may, without any of these three words in the definition, the term “mercy-killing”, which is effectively the meaning of euthanasia, is not applicable to the act. Without these three words, in their full meaning, the procedure being called “euthanasia” will be reduced to just suicide, or murder, whichever is applicable.
Arguably, the idea of a euthanasia parlor in a town sounds compassionate, even advanced, as any form of an innovative system can imply. However, all impressiveness ends here as we begin to explore what a ridiculous idea that is.
A “license to die”, as was suggested to be awarded to people with the rationality to decide if they “need” to, is almost quite similar as “license to suicide”. Consider that between a person wanting euthanasia and a person wanting suicide, reason is most likely with the latter – and we as a society are yet to consider that as enough rationality. Euthanasia is awarded to patients who are in extreme pain. Rationality is certainly a flimsy prerequisite to this circumstance. Individuals who are not in serious pain and are therefore capable in taking the examinations are better off in therapy or counseling sessions than taking this license.
If one is going to consider taking the licensure examination to prove that, should the time come, he or she is rational enough to make the decision here are what makes the idea ridiculous. First, no one in their sane state would want to get to that situation. Second, if they do get to that state, they are no longer in that rational state, thus, by virtue, the license is void. Third, it is usually the parent, or loved one who decides if euthanasia should be performed. And no licensure or parlors are ever needed for such a circumstance. Fourth, since unbearable pain is a matter of moments, it is not even realistic to think that one has enough time or endurance to go to a "parlor" to be "euthanized", once the decision has been made, the point of the matter being, the pain is desired to be ended quickly, then and there. No necessity or absurdity of a transport time is needed.
A "euthanasia parlor" in all its pretentious form, is really a suicide parlor, and no suicide candidates are ever in their rational mindset, in the accepted definition of the matter. With Robin William's case, who is probably the most sympathized case of suicide in known history, people still advocate speaking up and dealing with depression more openly. We are not in any path considering suicide as a rational decision in anything, except perhaps, in euthanasia. The Japanese used to consider suicide honorable, but they do not exactly think so nowadays.
