Writing as an art
A writer creates the story and tells it from his point of view. This is why mike feels that the editor is trying to change his way of seeing things and fix it with his own. An editor plays an important role in making the work of a writer perfect but to some extent, I agree with mike that some editors seem to go over the limit and want to force the writer’s work to be the way he wants it. However, this is not always the case and the editor may have some important points that may help improve the work of the writer. Such a case can be if the editor feels that the work of the writer does not pass a sufficient message or is overrated and requires some changes to appeal to the reader. This is like a second opinion on the work of the writer and it is important to see the corrections of the editor from his or her point of view before judging his corrections.
As a writer, I always have a personal connection with my work and I have a way of putting down my feelings in the work. This may not make sense to the editor because everyone has a unique way of seeing things. A writer has a way of expressing his feelings through a piece of writing and this creates a personal touch in the outcome of his writing. This is why it is difficult to accept the critics of another person who do not understand why a certain paragraph is in a particular page. However, this does not mean that I cannot allow other people to give me suggestions and analyze my work. This means that I have to give up a little bit of my control and possession of my art in order to make the necessary correction that will help make the writing better. This is because I believe that the opinions of others matter, but at the end of the day, I am the one who will put their suggestions into writing and I can do this my own way.
