In the article Reclaiming the Feminine Heart, Diarmuid O’ Murchu seeks to address the issue of patriarchy in society and women be given an equal opportunity with their male counterparts. He says that the whole concept should be re- thought so that it is made more inclusive. Society should, therefore be retrieved and that the prevailing patriarchal value systems are explored in an effort to bring women on board and give them an opportunity they deserve. This way, a more holistic vision which is holistic can be reconstructed.
In Reclaiming the Female Heart, O’ Murchu is of the opinion that the current systems of patriarchy needs to be abandoned because they are very corrupt and filled with exploitation. There is no equality among the genders. Not even spirituality has been spared. Feminists have highlighted this fact for a very long time but they have been ignored because of the imbalance that exists. But then these issues need to be laid bare and be looked into in an effort to bring the balance that is so much needed in all areas of the society.
When putting feminist spirituality to perspective, it is important that society reclaims the relational mode as a dynamic of life in all levels f existence. The relationship according to him is the value around which all things revolve. If these relationships are held with equality and respect for everyone, there will be energy and dynamism which will ensure that feminism is embraced and given meaning that surpasses the current notions and differences. The patriarchal culture domesticates and controls every aspect of life and this should not be the case. Women need to be put on the same level of doing things like their male counterparts.
