Introduction
Every individual has a different appetite than the other, in terms of psychological needs as well as in terms of need of consumption. There are certain things that affect the level of consumption of an individual, and on the basis of this particular level, the stance of consumption and appetite will get a strong change (Campbell and Campbell, 2005).
Consumption is an important viewpoint associated with an individual, even it is essential in the field of economics as well. It totally depends upon the personal income of an individual, and also depends upon the way of consuming them accordingly (Crum, 2008). Apart from the consumption from economic point of view, there are some other important aspects that are essential for the consumption based stance that introduce the concept of the inner appetite. Obviously, the relation among the consumption has a direct and strong relationship with the appetite and consumptions in particular. There are certain reasons behind the changing behavior of the individuals as far as consuming the things before and in the current concession. Obviously, one of the reasons is income, but there are other reasons as well that will induce a person to change the consumption behavior completely (Davies, Fitzgerald and Mousouli, 2008).
In this assignment, a similar scenario would like to develop accordingly. It is required to show the changing in the consumption behavior of myself, while consuming the same thing in Saudi Arabia and now consuming the same in Canada (Elton and O'Higgins, 2008). There is a clear difference found among the economic as well as weather climate of Saudi Arab and Canada, hence the level of consumption would remain on the same stance. However, there are other points as well, which will be taken into account for the same analysis. All of the main reasoning points regarding the consumption will be defined in this particular analysis, in order to cover up the things accordingly.
Analysis and Findings
The weather climate of Saudi Arab is hot, and it is very high during the day time, but remains low at nights (Ramady, 2005). Mostly of the country covered with dessert, due to which the probability of growing vegetables and fruits is very low (Wilson, 2004)
Apart from this, the record and probability of raining in this area is very low, due to which the growth of agriculture cannot be detailed.
On the other hand, the scenario of Canada is totally changed. In terms of weather, the climate of the country is very cold. Canada is known as one of the most peaceful countries of the world. The geographical area on which Canada has spread is very large, while the population of the country is not against the location. Due to its cold weather climate, the chances and probability of growing of agriculture of Canada is very sound and attractive.
The reason behind representing the geographical and physical existence of Saudi Arab and Canada is to give an idea regarding the propensity to consume the foods, because most of the time people consume foods according to the weather climate of the country. I was very fond of having fruits when I lived in Saudi Arab, but don’t like Vegetables much; however I have changed my attitude and behavior after arrival in Canada in terms of having fruits and vegetables. I have came here in Canada two years before, but still I think I am unable to adjust in the country because of completely change of environment as well as getting of foods (Quarter, Armstrong and Mook, 2009).
Now, coming to the main point! I have now becoming fond of vegetable as well, and now consuming more foods after arriving in Canada, as compared to Saudi Arab. Precisely, it can be said that my level of consumption has increased a lot after coming to Canada from Saudi Arab especially in the items like Fruits and Vegetables (Davies, Fitzgerald and Mousouli, 2008). There are number of reasons that instigated me to change the consumption behavior and amount considerably while consuming here in Canada as compared to consuming the same in Saudi Arab. In this assignment, the more likely effect is to jot down the main points that are integral behind the consumption stance. It is more towards sharing the food experience in terms of its consumption by focusing more on its reasons rather than just making the points for the references.
Reason No.1: There is an Income Factor
The branch of economics that usually pertain to the individuals is known as Microeconomics. It usually concerned with the amount of demand and supply, and the amount which is spending on a regular product. The concept of microeconomics can be applied on this particular scenario as well (MacClancy, Henry and Macbeth, 2009). Though, I belong to a financially stable family, however there is a marginal difference in consuming in my home country and in any other country as well. Marginal difference in the exchange rate and purchasing power parity (PPP) has a strong and high impact over the level of consumption of a thing (Davies, Fitzgerald and Mousouli, 2008). The current exchange rate of CAD/SAR is 3.35. It means, I usually have to pay a little bit higher for consuming a thing in Canada as compared to the fact that if I consumed the same thing in Saudi Arab (Davies, Fitzgerald and Mousouli, 2008).
One of the main reasons behind consuming vegetables and fruits in higher amount in Canada as compared to Saudi Arab is the income, because other things and meals including the meat is higher in prices. I cannot take the risk of eating meats in regular terms, as it cost higher to me, and the weather climate of Canada is not in the favor of consuming meat on regular basis (Miller, Jarvis and McBean, 2000). In Saudi Arab, I consumed meat 4 times a week, while I consumed vegetables and fruits 3 times a week. However, the scenario is totally different after coming to Canada, as I consumed vegetables and foods 6 days a week, and consume meat only 1 day a week. Most of the people think that this is a weak reason for consuming, but it is one of the strongest to me, as I have to save my money, as well as health for the future determination.
Reason: 2: Want to get myself Involve in the tradition
Since I arrived here in Canada from Saudi Arab, I found there is a lot of change and difference among the culture and tradition of both of the countries (Miller, Jarvis and McBean, 2000). They are not only change in behavior, but also in the traditions and culture. I have to make myself flexible enough to lean on this process accordingly, and get all the things in an effective and organized manner (Davies, Fitzgerald and Mousouli, 2008).
According to the culture and tradition, the people of Canada would like to consume Vegetables and Fruits on regular basis because; they found the fruits and vegetables as some of the most important things for a healthy diet of a person (Davies, Fitzgerald and Mousouli, 2008). When I arrived in Canada, I found lots of things that are totally change from the culture and tradition that I left in Saudi Arab. But, still I want to adjust myself in this environment, and it is only possible when I adopt the things accordingly, as well as their foods. For the consumption of foods, I diverted my mind towards vegetables and fruits more often as compared to meat. It is showing that I consume more vegetables and fruits herein Canada as compared to the consumption in the Saudi Arab region. That is the main reason, why I now take more interest towards the Canadian recopies of making vegetables for my daily dosage. Adopting the culture and tradition is one of the major things that will assist an individual to get fit in a specific community, and the appetite of consuming more Canadian dishes made specifically with Vegetables would enables me to get myself adjust under this particular community, which will be beneficial for my future and other concerns (Davies, Fitzgerald and Mousouli, 2008).
Reason 3: Taste makes a big Difference
Every person in this world is now looking after behind the taste. People want to go in a certain restaurant because they have an idea that the restaurant will provide the quality food to them, which will fulfill the appetite of the individual accordingly. The development of taste is an important activity from the viewpoint of an individual, and individuals always like to have something effective in their regions (Seth and Roberts, 1979).
One of the strong reasons that instigated me to consume the vegetables and fruits in Canada higher in amount than that of the amount consumer in Saudi Arab is the taste of the vegetables and fruits (Davies, Fitzgerald and Mousouli, 2008). In Canada, all the fruits and vegetables are grown in the country itself, as a large area of Canada based upon the agriculture economy, which is an effective sign for the country. I found vegetables and fruits in Canada enrich with vitamins and energy as well as in tastes as compared to the same found in my homeland. The main reason is the utilization of chemicals used in Saudi Arab. Apart from that most of the fruits and vegetables have been exported from India and Russia, which are not as the same taste as I found in the Canadian region. It can be said that taste certainly makes a big difference, as it brings in my life in terms of instigating me to consume the vegetables and fruits high in amount as I was using in Saudi Arab.
Reason No.4: Seasonal Availability
One of the major reasons, observed by me after my trip to Canada is that the availability of vegetables and food are very difficult in my homeland in every month of the year. There are certain seasons in which we get vegetables and fresh fruits in Saudi Arab, because of the dry weather and low probability of rains and cold (Davies, Fitzgerald and Mousouli, 2008). Almost 9 months out 12, the weather of Saudi Arab remains very hot and dry, which is one of the main reasons that not enough vegetables and fruits found in the country, hence people will divert their attention towards meat or any other thing, in order to fulfill their appetite. Due to this fact, most of the merchandisers store a large amount of vegetables and fruits to be sold to the customers in higher rates later on, however the taste would not remain like the same. On the other hand, due to rainy environment in Canada, availability of Vegetables and Fruits would not be a big asks for the consumers. I have observed a big difference while evaluating the vegetable and fruit market of Canada as compared to Saudi Arab that totally change my level of consumption of vegetables and foods in Canada than Saudi Arab particularly.
Conclusion
Every person on the earth is different from the other, in terms of mindset and in terms of consuming things. Consumption of things, especially foods depends heavily upon the nature and environmental behavior of the countries in particular. Every person can get an idea about their appetite that for what reasons they are consuming a thing in higher quantity in two different places. The assignment found the same relationship in terms of consuming vegetables and fruits higher in numbers in Canada than Saudi Arab. Three main reasons have been found for the same relationships, which are mentioned above.
