As per the school requirement, a student should attend two practicums; that is HSV 460 and HSV 461 before completion of his or her course. I have managed to be interned at the Girls Inc. DC for my first practicum where I was entitled to a number of responsibilities. They included planning and implementing girl’s activities, compiling and reporting data, administrative tasks, motivate the girls, and attend meetings among other roles. I have had such a humbling experience in the place and I believe it has fostered growth in my skills and knowledge.
In light of this, I would like to kindly request to continue with my second practicum at the same place. The main reason that I am requesting for the exception is that there is an order for military students to move to Washington. The move will be effected as from 11th February 2015 when my internship will be ongoing. This means if I relocate my intern place, I will lack time to complete the internship from my new place of duty.
Similarly, Girls Inc. DC has the capability of offering distinct responsibilities from the ones in my first practicum. The stipulated roles for next practicum are two hour-monthly training on behavior management, classroom management, and strategies for dealing with challenging behavior. I will be entitled to supervising volunteers, conducting staff meetings, instructing subordinates on policy interpretation in accordance to state and federal laws. I will also be dealing with contracts and proposals assist in developing and evaluating program and contracts. Ultimately, I will be entitled with the tasks of preparing correspondence and reports. Clearly, the responsibilities are distinct in the two sessions; hence, I will enhance my skills and requisite class knowledge. Therefore, I am kindly looking forward to your positive consideration of my humble request.
