The play by Heimbuch is a fictional comic play based to show the superiority of one character in times of need: Shakespeare. The play has an ancient setting with the author incorporating characters such as Shakespeare and Queen Elizabeth. However, the setting of the novel had an aim of generating a feeling of the superiority of the human race. The author displays with a lot of regard the human race and their abilities to withstand any significant society change if they stick together.
It was at this point the author introduced the feeling of hope and survival. At the start of the plot everything was perfect until one person was bitten by mad stricken man. At the start of the situation much cold not be done as people watched the death of the partners while they remained indoors and seclude fearing infection. However, the human race was still a threat and hey released the need to be quarantined. They realized they have to hope to live for another day and they needed to survive both the attempt on the Queen’s position and the infectious disease.
At was at this point the author introduced the character of Shakespeare. Shakespeare is the tool of hope in the plot. The author uses the character to create a hero from whom people believe a savior would rise. This creates a feeling among the people and their put in place mechanisms that would ensure their survival. They concluded to quarantine any other person who displays effects of the disease to reduce the spread and the disease. This was a result of the little hope of survival displayed by the people as led by Shakespeare. Additionally, the presence of the Queen in the capital was also a sign that everything would be taken care of. People around the queen felt safer with her presence and had hope their leader would live another day and this kept them going for days. The interaction between the queen and the people was also a strategy to create hope in the population.
However, the challenge on the position of the queen was a negative show of solidarity among the people. However, the heroic character of Shakespeare is brought into play and the author is able to correct the negative action and instill the hope of restoration in the audience. This makes the play more interesting and favoring the existence of the human race. At the end of the play, both hope and restoration are achieved in the play. The human race have hope for survival and the queen remains the leader in this particular society.
