There are many similarities and differences between Quran, Torah and Bible. The following descriptions show the similarities of the three holy books. The two holy books have similarity in that both believe in a single true God. The idea of holy Trinity is found in both the Bible and The Quran. The two books support that there is nobody like God. They confess that Jesus Christ was only a messenger from God, but he was not God. Pork is prohibited in both books. For instance, Deuteronomy 14:8 quotes that pig is unclean. The holy Quran 5:3 states that forbidden is that which dies of itself, flesh of swine and blood (George & Timothy, 2005).
The concept of polygamy is allowed in both books. In the Bible, 1 Chronicles 14:3 states how David married many wives and became the father of daughters and sons. At the same time Holy Quran 4:3 states that marrying more than one wife are good for Islam. Another similarity is that wearing of the hijab by women is an obligation for every woman. For example, in the bible 1 Corinthians 11:6-10 states that if a woman is not veiled, her hair should be cut off. The holy Quran 33:59 states that the prophet to tell wives and daughters of believers that if they let down upon them their garments, it will be proper (George & Timothy, 2005).
The Bible and Quran have varied differences. Quran and Bible are not the same. While the bible has many different writings of many prophets ranging from Moses to Jesus, Quran has only Muhammad as a prophet. Muhammad is the only man cited in the Quran while, in the Bible there are over one ten prophetic men quoted. The Bible has provision of its entire context that are sufficiently enough for Christians to belief and practice. Quran, on the other hand, does not have provisional context for what it records or have the practices that are essentially practiced by the Islam. The practices are borrowed from Islamic books other than the Quran. Quran does not have information on female or male circumcision while the Bible records that every male child was to undergo circumcision during the time of Jesus (George & Timothy, 2005).
The Quran has a complex religion method because the religion is based on several books; each book requires its own method of critical issues and studies. It is difficult for one to familiarize him/her with all these books. The Muslims scholars make the complex Quran simple in reading and understanding by rewriting in a simple language. However, the Bible is simple and easy for Christians to understand. Moreover, Quran, unlike the Bible is not foundation of Islam, but Islam is the foundation on the Quran (Mussel man & Lytton, 2007). The stories in the Quran concentrate majorly on the Islamic spiritual and moral significance unlike the Bible that has the details of the events. It is believed that Quran came from God through the angel known as Gabriel to the Muslim prophet Muhammad in a sequence of revelation. However, the Bible is believed to be written by inspired people. Moreover, Quran came from God and, therefore, was not corrupted unlike the Bible which was corrupted over time (Mussel man & Lytton, 2007).
In the Bible, tree of the knowledge of evil and good is the forbidden tree while in the Quran; Shaitaan is mentioned instead of the forbidden tree. In Quran, God taught Adams names of everything on the earth unlike in the bible in which Adams was told by God to name the animals. The Bible records that God rested, but Quran had got no account on the instance when God rested (Mussel man & Lytton, 2007).
