Psychology – My Identities
Identity is defined as an exceptional characteristic of any individual, so called the personal identity, or the distinctive characters that make a person unique. There can be various problems of personal identity, some of which are Persistence, Personhood, Who am I, What am I and so on. If identity poses a problem, however, it may also present a solution (Moshman 120). My goal in this paper is to describe my Personal Identities, Social Identities and Relational Identities.
Personal Identities
Some of my personal identities are, I am a nice person, and according to my friends I try to be nice with everyone and they like my kind nature. I am aware of my surrounding and always think before I say anything or put any work into action. My nature is such that whenever someone tries to treat me badly I gratefully say Thank you and leave them without saying a word. I am known to be quite helpful and people perceive me as a smart individual. I am a good advisor when people need any solutions to their problems; I go an extra mile to resolve the problems of the needy. As, I am a completely fun loving person, hardly have I been under any kind of depression, neither I take up any stress, nor any sadness has occupied me ever. My main motive in life is to keep everyone around me happy and jovial.
A human being is known as a social animal and we spend most of our time with the society. Through social identity, group memberships are internalized and become part of the individual’s internal, subjective identity (Ratele, Duncan 56). We see many old age people around us who are in need of the basic necessities like food, and water. When I see such people, my heart breaks and I go ahead to help them and provide them with these basic necessities. I am also grateful to all those helpful people who have helped me when I needed them the most and I can never forget their kind help poured on me. I am very thankful to god for providing me with all the necessities required to survive in this society. I like to be with the group of good people with good thoughts that can help me to help the society in return.
Relational Identities
I am the only daughter of my parents and presently I live with my mother. Till I joined college my mother has taken care of all my needs, as my father is not alive. My mom is my responsibility in her old age, and, as I am still single I hope to find a man who can also accept my mom and morally support her. As people have different personalities, it is well understood that the person whom I find may be different because of his ethnicity, country and culture. For a relationship to be successful, we must be in a position to understand the right and the wrong in different situations. It is important to know how the correct decisions help us to be good with others and make it a resolution not to harm others.
