Globalization has stemmed out many factors that is threatening the status quo of the current society. Global media basically originated from the harmonization of the different countries and continents by governments and international organization. This is because the global media has no boundaries but has an influence over political, social and environmental facets of the society. The global sphere was emerged as a result of globalization this is because of the different interest that began to emerge in both local and international sphere. The existence of the global media exist this is because of the different ways people are in a position to acquire information and be able to be influenced by that information. E.g. the anti-apartheid movement and its influence globally that had an impact in all the facets of the society. The global spheres are the sparsely distributed nations who were able to acquire the anti-apartheid movement and its motivation in their respective countries and continents. Hence, does global media and global sphere exist, and what are the resulting consequences of their emergence?
The anti-apartheid movement was a movement that was originated from South Africa that was being used to fight for the rights of the local people. The British people through the global media were able to get the information relating to the status of the South African people and they commenced the international anti-apartheid movement that was meant to fight for human rights. Apartheid in South Africa spurred a lot of reactions across Africa, which made the African leader to approach the British to aid them in the process of anti-apartheid against South Africa. The Tanzanian president approached the British by saying we are not asking you the British people for not anything special but just your withdrawal from supporting apartheid by not purchasing South African goods[ CITATION Aud99 \l 1033 ].
As a result the anti-apartheid movement was commenced and had the following influencing in the global sphere and to the South African government and its market:
Just after the introduction of the anti-apartheid movement was commenced the town of Sharpeville had an intensification of the already existing unrest, they advocated for the anti-apartheid movement to one of other movements that fight for human rights but at the fore front was the fight for the South Africans interests. Other organizations also joined the movement ranging from the British communists, Trade unions, denominations, armed struggle commenced e.g. from Zimbabwe[ CITATION Cra99 \l 1033 ]. And through the global media e.g. news papers (Boycott News), the anti-apartheid used it as a medium to organize meetings in support of the African National Congress and Pan African Congress. This shows how the media played a significant role in advocating for the human rights and the communication of information to other interested groups who also joined the movement. It also shows how the media is effective in triggering reactions by influencing people by the kind of messages it relays. Based on this message the media had influence in different governments like the reaction from African leaders and some European countries, who gained from the anti-apartheid movement[ CITATION Low98 \l 1033 ].
Economic sanctions campaigns
The global media had a role to play in the South African government. The anti-apartheid movement influenced and went against the legislations that were imposed by the South African government to the people[ CITATION Aud99 \l 1033 ]. E.g. there was decree of the mission schools to be brought under government control and the delineate education to Africans. As result there was an alienation of two South African academicians, this spurred a reaction that saw a number of university professors in Britain boycott duties. They argued that the restriction violated the right to freedom of African South African citizens. The British government had to intervene on the South African government legislation on the education. This shows that through the information found by the anti-apartheid movement, the British government under its influence had to come in to save its academicians; this also was replicated in the South African government who as a result had to withdraw their legislation. Hence, it is evident that the information that was disseminated by the global media had influence on the government of both Britain and South Africa. This shows to what extent the global media had influence on the global sphere which was replicated in the influence of the governments which triggered their reactions[ CITATION Low98 \l 1033 ].
Conclusion
This shows that from a simple movement that commenced as a result of the African segregation in South Africa, it triggered a lot of reactions from the globe. The media played a major role, for through the magazines, internet, and news papers e.t.c. This had influence on both governments and the economy of different countries; i.e. the governments had to react to the wants of the people and the market was influenced majorly by the sanctions that were employed to the South African economy. This shows that indeed there is an existent of the global media and the global spheres who are the major consumers of the information derived from the global media[ CITATION Aud99 \l 1033 ].
