Introduction
Beliefs are important in life because they act as means of governing our action in life. One of the beliefs that I have concerning the environment is that: the environment should not be damaged unnecessarily in the pursuit of human ends. Logically, there has to be points backing this notion for the belief to be deemed viable. Another belief is that: “People should not journey by car if they can walk, cycle, or take a train instead." It would be difficult to implement such beliefs and this is the reason behind some of the inconsistencies that would be experienced in trying to implement the beliefs.
In the first belief, the environment is given more credit compared to the activities of mankind. This is the reason why the belief advocates for the welfare of the environment disregarding the interests of mankind. To some extent, it would be possible to implement the belief. In the second belief, the belief is not complete or satisfying in that it does not give a reason as to why people should use the locomotives. These beliefs are some that would be important in acting as a guideline in the life of man. However, there are some inconsistencies that may be linked with the beliefs.
The first belief is a viable one despite there being some inconsistencies in relation to the second belief. Considering the environment more and disregarding some of the activities of mankind are possible and this is what makes the first belief possible to uphold. However, the inconsistency of the belief to the second comes in because it would be difficult to uphold the second belief. Failure to uphold the values of the second belief would imply that the values of the first belief would be at stake. This is because it becomes very tricky for people to disregard their interests and place the welfare of the environment on the front line hence the reason why the use of vehicles would not stop. Vehicles jeopardize the welfare of the environment and this is inconsistent with the first belief that tends to protect the environment.
Consistency may be defined as the way things flow in the same direction therefore not causing friction or conflict of ideas. Consistency would be a very important factor especially in comparing different beliefs. Once different beliefs are consistent, then it would give the implication that the beliefs share a common goal. This is therefore a very important aspect of life as it would act as a way through which tasks are successfully executed without any complications arising.
Logic is an important tool when coming up with different beliefs of life and it should therefore be upheld. Consistency is the factor that leads to logic hence it should be advocated. Consistency is crucial especially in coming up with different beliefs concerning life. Consistency in different beliefs would give the implication that the beliefs are there for a common course. This would therefore make it simple to accomplish different goals in life. With consistency in mind, then there would be no conflict of interests in any case whatsoever.
Conclusion
Beliefs make it simple to carry out different activities in life since they act as guidelines for the welfare of mankind. Beliefs give values to life and the reason to act or behave in a particular way. However, the only thing which seems to diminish the interests of these beliefs is the existence of inconsistencies. Inconsistency in beliefs implies that there is collision or conflict of interests held by the beliefs. It also implies that it would be difficult to achieve a common goal.
