Rice has also been transformed trough this innovation to carry the required amounts of iron thus reducing iron deficiency which has been posing treat to human health.
The use of advanced technologies in biotechnology to decrease the levels of toxic chemicals in cassava would minimize the time required to prepare and save the lives of those people who use it as a stable food. The insertion of an invertase gene from yeast reduces the levels of glycoalkaloid toxin. Biotechnology has attempted to improve the photosynthetic system in plants trough genetic modification and this would lead to improved efficiency with enhancement in yield.
The fresh availability of GMOs could, on the other hand, carry possible dangers to human safety and living. Most of the features and traits that are found in modified agricultural products are new and have not been tested of their safety use before. Genetically modified organisms may also have effects on human health directly through unfavorable influence on the economy, and sociological factors. The introduction of transgenic into a recipient organism cannot easily be controlled and hence can result in a variety come which can be risk to the entire environment.
