Micro and macros decision concepts and their relationship POLC-Model
POLC model involves planning, organizing, leading and controlling. At planning stage, vision and mission of the project are defined. The goals and objectives of the same are also set. Setting up of a strategy is done in order to arrive at definite plan of how to achieve the stated objectives of the project. In the strategy formulation are decisions that have to be made. This is where a realization is made between the POLC model and the micro decision concepts. During planning as defined by the POLC, micro decision concepts have to be introduced. Problem analysis needs to be done so that the situation is understood well for effective strategies on how to handle it. Identification of the current performance and the expected performance as far as the project state is concerned is the foundation for determination of potential causes of problems and solutions for the same.
Macro decision concepts like feasibility determination and pre-project organizing are tightly coupled with planning and organization in the POLC model. A product life cycle model defines the process through which a product undergoes. This macro concept has in it the aspect of planning and controlling the entire applications in the process in order to achieve a final desirable product or a service. The tasks involved in the process are controlled and organized in a manner as to achieve a desired objective. A decision like what business to venture or what equipment to implement is part of the planning process enshrined in the POLC model. Therefore, it is imperative to say that the decision concepts whether macro or micro all contribute to the advancement of the POLC model. They are in fact the building blocks of the model.
