Supply Chain
Supply chain of Big Mac:
The supply chain process of Big Mac includes the following transference in the structure: McDonalds uses the following supply chain for a Big Mac production (Apte, Maglaras, and Pinedo, 2008).
- Raw material suppliers include: cheese from New Zealand, beef from Spain, onion and pickle from US, sugar and oil from Brazil, buns from Saudi Arabia and packaging from Germany.
- The raw material transported to distribution centers.
Supply chain of Gasoline:
The supply chain process of gasoline includes the following transference in the structure (Krajewski, Ritzman, & Malhorta, 2007):
- At first the purchase of crude oil and transfer it by tankers to the crude storage plant.
- Then refining of crude oil takes place by the refining plant and sending it to the product distribution centre by tankers.
- Distribution center send it to the marketing product storage center. (terminal, port etc)
- In final step it is ready to serve the final consumer on demand centers (petrol pumps).
Supply chain of automobile repair:
The supply chain for automobile workshop is based on the following transference.
- Repair workshop purchase raw material from suppliers.
- Deliver the raw material (auto parts) to the workshop by trucks.
- After reaching the workshop the auto parts are ready to sell to the final consumer.
Supply chain of text book:
The supply chain of textbooks is based on the following structure (Schroeder, Goldstein, and Rungtusanatham, 2012):
- Purchase of raw material from the manufacturer of pages and card board.
- Collect all the raw material at manufacturing plant and process it for manufacturing.
- Manufactured textbooks send to the ware house of distribution centers.
- Distribution centre deliver the textbooks to the retail stores (book stalls).
Time Series Components
Monthly sales of retail florist:
The sales of florist are seasonal and irregular. It is seasonal because the sale of flower increases in some seasons and occasions. For example spring day or spring month celebration and marriages season increases it sales. It is irregular because it can be demanded by customers in any uncertain or unplanned occasions. For example funeral, birthday parties etc.
Daily demand for telephone calls:
Daily demand for telephone calls are depends on the secular and cyclical components of time series. It is secular because it has got a demand on the daily basis. For example calls by call centre agents to the customers on daily basis and calls by customer relationship officers to the clients on the daily basis. It is cyclical because the demand of phone calls increase with the increase at the time of peak stage in the business the company gives extra attention to retain the existing customers by building relationship through telephone calls. This has increased the demand of telephone calls on the cyclical basis.
Monthly demand for newspaper:
Monthly demand for news paper is depends on the secular and irregular component of the time series. It is secular because news paper has a daily demand because of its readership on the daily or monthly basis. On the other side it depends also on the irregular component because on the uncertain events or occasions increases the demand of the news paper. For example, elections in the country.
