The key elements of new economy include the worker and the conditions of the work place. The new economy endeavors to improve on issues that the old economy did not work well on. The most significant issue with workers is equality. The new economy endeavors to establish the extent to which gender equality has improved over time and to establish the reasons for undesirable and desirable progress do as to adopt the ways and means of ensuring equality.
The new economy also endeavors to distribute opportunities equally without regard to one’s race. This facilitates an analysis as to the ways in which the minority groups have responded to racial bias. As regards the working conditions, the new economy purposes to evaluate if the pay offered is equivalent to the work done. The new economy has seen American workers work for longer hours than they did before. This has effects on not only them but their families.
The biggest beneficiary of the new economy is the employer who gets better quality work from a diverse workforce selected with equality and expertise in mind. The new economy has also seen the changes in work designs to suit the profitability and economics of the company. This is best reflected by the new 24/7 schedules introduce to ensure that businesses run day and night. The people of suffer are the working middle class who have to work so hard for a guarantee of pay since the economy is performance and results oriented. The lower class suffers from issues such as job insecurity where certainty of retaining their small jobs is not guaranteed.
It is the government’s responsibility to provide an environment for those who cannot make a living through offering free education that will facilitate the employability of such populations. Investment in sectors that generate opportunities for such populations is another responsibility of the government. It is the individual’s responsibility to nurture their abilities so as to secure a slot in the ever shrinking work forces. Corporations have responsibilities of ensuring that the employees have satisfactory working conditions.
