Part I. Identification of a key moment or concept
The most symbolic moment I observed in the literature was when the children were not willing to let go the nursery and were determined to stay with it. This is a reflection of the modern society where modern technology has taken over parental responsibility. Parents have become too busy with the moneymaking lifestyles that they can afford machines to baby sit their children. They only realise when it is very late that such machines takes over the trust of their children that they no longer care about what their parents tell them. The parents observed the change in their children’s behaviour when it was too late.
The advice of the psychiatrist could not work for them as the children had already mastered the trick of getting their way. It is unfortunate that modern parents trade their children with their careers and busy lifestyles. In the process of thinking that they are lavishing them with a good life, they exchange them with others things that are less important. Neglect of such responsibilities is ailing the society and the sooner the parents realise how much their children need them, the more heartache they will save them.
Part II. Examination of genre and the effect on your moment
The genre that has been used in the moment is symbolism. This works to communicate a specific message especially to parents who are too busy for their children. Children are naturally adventurous and will get excited about every toy that is brought their way. Their parents are also the first people they encounter in life and therefore develop a lot of trust on them. It is therefore normal for the children to take in and even enjoy what the parents give them. It is therefore up to the parents to realise what is good for their children and how it will affect their future life. Televisions, video games, computers and the likes are just some of the examples of the devises that have taken over the parenting responsibility. Children get used to what they see and as they grow up, it becomes difficult for them to revert from them. It is unfortunate that the nursery that was meant to bring happiness to the family became a source of misery and death to the family. This is a warning to every parent, it is better to take the necessary measures before it is too late.
Part III. Creative recreation of the moment in an alternate genre
If I had to take this scene to be in a movie, I would imagine the boy and the girl plotting on how to trick their parents to allow them one more chance to use the nursery. They most have probably invented a sign language that they use which their parents cannot decode. They knew it would not take much effort to convince their parents and if diplomatic means failed, they would use force. I can imagine how they heckled their parents when they were finally inside the nursery and had locked themselves inside. I can picture the parents pleading with tears for the children to open the nursery as the children heckled them as they cared less. I can also picture the parents’ flashbacking painfully on the signs they saw of their children losing trust in them yet failed to take action. The moments when they thought their children were enjoying when in the real sense they were getting lost. I can see them languish in pain as they wish the moments would be rewound and that they be given another chance to correct their mess, all in vain.
