Change is inevitable and shifting dynamic trends are being witnessed in the ski industry that will affect the future outlook. The skiing industry has been accosted by different changes that are not limited to particular markets but rather cuts across all stakeholders. Lack of technological advancement for hotels in the industry might prove disastrous especially with the tech savviness of clientele. The influx of much younger and wealthier travelers indicates an enormous boom for hoteliers in the industry thus hoteliers must prepare adequately to meet specific parameters as spending power increases as stated by Alps (2015). Adventurous clientele will spur the industry to increase innovation to benefit from increased cases of adventure tourism though migration may adversely affect the hotel industry due to loss of local tourists, cultural heritage and limitations in workforce employment due to migration.
According to Module 1 (2016), The clamor for improved interaction through redesigning of lobbies and hotels may warrant wholesome changes in some hotels so as to suit the current market needs. Diet changes requirements may lead to new servings and the expansion of catering services to provide a variety of delicacies failure to which business success may dwindle. Springing up of hotels worldwide will increase service providers that may boost the industry with strong financial, economic importance and awareness of the industries activities in the new markets. Environmental negligence and degradation by industry players may lead to business closure due to non-compliance with environmental standards yet to be met. High cost of energy is also associated with the absence of investments in alternative but environmental friendly sources, significantly reducing operating margins.
Industrial response to environmental issues could incorporate the use of an alternative energy source i.e. wind as stated on Module 1 (2016). Reuse and recycling of material through new technologies coupled with improving customer awareness on preservation of environment are some of the steps that can be undertaken to deal with emerging trends. Activities that promote interactions can be introduced into a hotel set up mainly as entertainment events. Several delicacies should be presented to diversify food and beverages provided as per the customer’s requests. Adventure activities should be hosted to serve young adults as well as automation of systems for industry players to tap into the tech savviness of its clientele as a marketing tool as indicated in MRA (2010).
