Twelfth night is a luminous piece of literary work by William Shakespeare. This comedy and romantic play is believed to be prepared around the year 1600. Love has been explicated as one of the most inspiring emotions and the same idea has been profoundly portrayed by the author in a very pragmatic manner. Shakespeare also portrays different facets of relationship and love in the play and describes how passionate love can cause agony and violence.
The Gender is also portrayed significantly by the author in the play. This play is known as some of transvestite comedies of Shakespeare. Viola, a leading character masquerades as a man and this situation creates a mess in the play. She loves Orsino but fears telling him because of her posing as a man. On the other hand, Olivia loves a woman but doubts that he is a man. Portrayal of the gender in a specific way creates a lot of confusion throughout the play. The role of every character is portrayed with a focus on gender disguises, and relationships (Shakespeare).
Deception and lies are very significant part of the play. Counterfeited documents, physical disguise, and unashamed lies are portrayed everywhere in the ‘Twelfth night’. All these lies and disguises intend to deceive others for self interest. Shakespeare is the master of creating such circumstances that keep the story moving and readers entertained. Behavior, words and acts of characters are dubious and suggest some conspiracy in every scene of the play.
‘Yankee Tavern’ is a famous play by Steven Dietz, one of the known play writer and producers. ‘Yankee Tavern’ is all about the events of September 2001. United States of America witnessed devastating terrorist attacks when two planes were intentionally collided into world trade centre. Thousands of people lost their lives and thousands were injured. American president George Bush waged a war against terrorism and launched attacks on Afghanistan.
The play, ‘Yankee Tavern’ focuses on conspiracy theories regarding the attack on world trade centers. Some very relevant questions are asked about the terrorist attacks as why there was not ample security at the airport and how attackers got the control over planes and collided with the world trade centre. Further, it is asked that why the security of the pentagon was not increased immediately once the New York buildings were attacked in a devastating manner. Several other significant and relevant questions are asked about the incident that compels readers to think about the issue with new perspectives (Dietz).
Conspiracy theory is not confined to the terrorist attacks only but it also talks about other incidents like the murder of John F Kennedy. JFK was assassinated in the year 1963 and as per the story, Lee Harvey Oswald killed the president but the book does not rely in this story. Certain questions are raised about the assassination and it has been suggested that there was a deep conspiracy in this assassination.
The book suggests that Lee Oswald was only a stooge and this assassination of JFK was actually staged by the CIA. The book further suggests that US first landing on the moon in the year 1969 was also a lie. It is suggested that videos and pictures were taken in a Hollywood studio and it was propagated that US mission has successfully landed on the moon.
