Hypnosis, is an interesting part of psychology. Usually, under the hypnotherapy, which is similar to trance, people feel completely relaxed and calm with their focus and concentration heightened. Hypnotherapy allows the hypnotist to influence the subconscious of the person by means of the suggestions which are implemented by verbal repetition and certain mental images. There is no consensus on how hypnosis works between the scientists for more than two hundred years, moreover, the science cannot explain this phenomenon completely either. There is a lot of information in the Mass media and social media on what a person is capable of doing under hypnosis, but why he actually does it, remains a mystery. Secret, the disclosure of which might explain how the brain works. It is unlikely that in the nearest future, scientists will be able to answer this question. However, psychiatrists state that they have uncovered the basic principle of hypnosis. "Hypnosis - a state similar to a trance, characterized by increased susceptibility, relaxation and heightened imagination. In the video the hypnotist Hendrik Baird explains how does the hypnosis work. There are a lot of questions and misconceptions nowadays. The first thing he explains is that hypnosis is not a dream, you are completely aware of what you are doing and cannot agree with the things you are not willing to. Moreover, you do not relieve your darkest secrets under the hypnosis. If you do not feel like sharing this kind of information – you will not do this. You are fully aware of all the actions under the hypnosis. In the video, the specialist also discusses how does our subconscious works: The information comes from the outside – goes to subconscious mind and face the critical factor. The subconscious cannot judge, all the thinking and judging is performed on the level of the critical factor. Therefore, the main goal of the hypnotist is to relax the person to that point, where you will no longer judge the information, by pass the critical factor. As a result – you will agree with the suggestions you hear. It is really useful to give up bad habits such as drug, alcohol abuse, smoking and so on. You just accept the suggestions on becoming a non-smoker, for example, and you simply accept all the information and the accepted data – becomes an automatic action. Another myth states that only gullible people can be hypnotized. In fact, it is quite different. Due to the fact that you are aware of everything that is going on under the hypnosis, and your focus as well as attention is heightened, this will mean that intelligent person is more likely to be hypnotized. Overall, the professor explains that there is nothing to be afraid of hypnosis. It can really become handy in treating phobias and giving up bad habits and a lot of other useful things. Hypnosis is really helpful for psychiatry and other medical specialties. It is a proven fact that hypnosis is useful in speeding recovery from physical or mental traumas. That is how hypnosis works!
Finally, the video is very educative and useful. Even though psychiatrists are still trying to reveal all the mysteries about this phenomenon, it looks like hypnosis is a really interesting sphere of psychology that has proved to be working.
