A monster can be best described as a peculiar, imaginary creature with horrible features. It is usually an extremely large being that possesses a powerful, controlling, and vindictive nature. This imaginary creature is generally composed of various human and animal physical parts amalgamated together. For human beings, a monster has an absolutely ugly appearance unlike the normal human appearance. However, a monster does not only have an unusual and hideous exterior presentation; thus creature also depicts an abnormal behavior with wickedness, cruelty, and malice
Monster in the culture is embodied with its unpleasant emotions. Culture makes and ascribes monster by bestowing it with certain characteristics usually as a direct reflection of the prevalent fears and taboos. The appearance of a monster becomes cultural proscriptions that directly represent societies’ taboos portraying the monster’s body as a symbol of fear, fantasy, and anxiety. Furthermore, the human culture considers those people as monsters who demonstrate unkindness and cruelty to others such as murderers, serial killers and other offenders. In many cases, the term ‘monster’ is used to describe the inexplicable attitudes and ways employed by people.
Societies do not accept those who possess and display the characteristics of monsters. It is essential to understand that monsters are also culturally and socially created by human beings as well. For example, human beings discriminate others who have unusual personalities, ugly appearances, and horrible bodies. Such people are made to live a life of isolation ultimately making them use their cruel attributes towards human life and plan for its destruction. Therefore, it can be also said that the imaginary creation of the monster in human mind also leads to judging those who does not contain monster characteristics but can force them to exhibit cruelty due to the unusual behavior towards them. To put it more simply, societies not only consider those who are wicked, cruel and inhuman to others as monsters but also regard people with ugly physical features as monsters.
It can be said that that humanoid form of monster also exist in people. It is both familiar and unfamiliar considering the impacts on the status. Monsters are those who integrate both outer and inner ugliness in them making them different from normal human beings. In fact, monster is an inverse image of humans containing hidden and unrevealed realities. Therefore, the transgressor should be encountered in the monster by using the individual’s own efforts.
The entire discussion concludes that monsters are those who demonstrate unusual conduct and brutal acts. Moreover, their appearance is also not decent as the essence of bad deeds appears on their faces ultimately portraying an ugly image. People are killing each other on minor things, for money, for fame, and reputation. Thus, such attributes override the laws of nature and develop an animalistic mindset which does not allow a person to think wisely. For example, anger and revenge are very commonly found in our society that leads to killings. If such acts are done by animals, the argument is understandable. However, monstrous acts are not acceptable by human beings as they are blessed with knowledge and brain. Unlike animals, human beings have the great ability to differentiate between right and wrong. Nevertheless, many societal and cultural unfair acts force people to adopt a monstrous mindset for their survival.
