Reflection and Critique of the Visual in My World
Visual culture is fundamentally the study of various combinations, which include art history, philosophy, critical theory, anthropology as well as cultural studies by focusing on noble aspects of culture that rely mainly on visual images. Visual culture also includes the signs and symbols that people encounter daily and the paramount interpretations and importance that the cultures places on them (Gill 03).
However, the journal opens up a critical societal issue that men’s bodies are to be viewed as sex objects which leads to moral decay. It is worth noting that the society demands and norms are that everybody should respect the human body but the significance given of the Levis 501s advert in the journal is a worrying trend. I totally agree that visual culture is among the noble and paramount aspects of art but the journal tends to portray other alter motives which if not checked, they can damage the whole concept of art (Gill 03).
The journal nevertheless expounds on various noble aspects that are paramount to humanity. I personally believe that visual culture should be used for its merits and it should be protective of the concept of art as a whole. My visual of my world is for a world whereby people live in peace and harmony together without conflicts. Peace and happiness are the integral aspects in this life and visual culture through art, should undoubtedly promote this noble factors.
