Introduction:
The California Travel Planning Guide aims to provide prospective visitors of Disneyland with information about the theme park, particularly about the activities that they can do, the places that they can go to, and the souvenir items that they can purchase within the theme park.
This completion memo provides details about the completion of this repurposing project, which our team worked on from July 20 to July 27, 2012.
The California Disneyland Travel Planning Guide consisted of three main tasks or deliverables, namely the brochure, the written report, and the oral presentation. There are three members in our group, specifically Nikki _(last name)__, Eid ____(last name)___, and Deye _____(last name)____. Since all of us contributed to the completion of each of the deliverables, the following tables provide a breakdown of the tasks that each deliverable required, as well as the group members assigned to each task and the time frame in which each task was completed.

The brochure consisted of three sections, namely Attractions, Activities, and Shopping. Aside from writing the content for each section, the group members assigned to each section was also responsible for obtaining and resizing the necessary images that would go with the content. In general, the images’ sizes were kept at around 2.5” x 2.0” to ensure that there were around 2-3 entries on each page.
Nikki then consolidated all of the sections and was responsible for the brochure’s final outcome, which included the design and the layout.
We used Robin Williams’ design principles and Nielsen’s usability principles as bases for the brochure’s design and we also conducted a qualitative and quantitative test on the brochure as specified by Gurak and Lannon.

Our oral presentation started with the introduction where Eid provided an overview of the expertise that we repurposed for the project, as well as of the actual project and its goals. Eid then went on to present the outcome of our project and how we went about to complete it.
Next, Nikki described the design that we used for our product where she explained how we applied the usability and design principles indicated by Williams and Nielsen. Finally, Deye concluded the presentation by providing an overview of the project and our next steps in marketing our product, as well as the lessons that we learned from working on the project.
Problems:
The group had some difficulty with the amount of work involved in sorting through the vast amount of information that’s available about Disneyland. To ensure that we provided the audience with relevant information, we searched for online articles that indicated the most popular places and activities in Disneyland and compiled them. We also searched online for price information, compared our findings, and came up with the average prices.
Conclusion:
We successfully completed the California Disneyland Travel Planning Guide project from July 20 to 27, 2012. This project consisted of a brochure, a written report, and an oral presentation. We successfully overcame the difficulties we encountered while completing the project and we also successfully incorporated our teacher’s and classmates’ feedback in order to further improve our project’s outcome.
