Description of a pet
Inspired by Thomas McGuane’s book “Some Horses” I decided to write about the big part of my life, my pet. Let me introduce the Staffordshire terrier of a name Nick. We grew up together and I have some information to share with you about his life.
I remember the day, when my father brought a little puppy and asked whether we want him to stay with us. He was so cute and lively so our reply was positive. He quickly adapted and became a good friend of ours. That is how he became a part of our family.
Nick had light brown coat pattern and brown eyes. His ears were cut short and his teeth were sharp. Being athletic build, strong and muscular, he put in fear any rival. Although he had a combative spirit, his facial expression was always smiley.
As he was of a cheerful disposition he comforted anyone who was upset. Imagine a big Staffordshire comes to you and lies his head down on your knees. Then he starts leaking your hands and tries to say you something. His expression is so beseeching that you eventually give up your sadness and hug him with a relieved smile.
I should add that Nick was very intelligent and attentive. Reading person’s facial expression, he was behaving accordingly. I remember that he liked to see peoples’ smiles. Therefore, when he had noticed that something is wrong with you, he would do anything to move you to laughter. Despite Nick’s restless nature and readiness to play, he was very patient. Who does not know about dog’s faithfulness? Our dog is one of the best examples of allegiance.
His strong friendly relationships with our cat Mary I can illustrate on the one example. It was when my father had heard the sound aroused from the kitchen. He came in and saw the next. Mary was sitting on the high shelf, where Nick’s fodder was lying. She had gnawed the packet and was throwing down the fodder to Nick. And he was successfully eating it until father saw them. Now I look back to this story with a smile on my face.
I am glad you have acquainted to my friend. I hope you liked him as much as I loved him. Now he is not living with us anymore. He died and I regret that. Our family still misses Nick. We will not forget about him till the very death. Then we will meet again.
