Ethics refer to the accepted code of conduct in business operations and partnerships. They are the set rules and regulations that govern a business and the corporation itself. The ethics guidelines dictate the manner in which every partner in the firm contributes to the overall success of the business. Code of ethics demands several concepts.
As the CEO of this company, the joint-partnership with the People's Liberation could be so unethical in businesses. Business ran by the military could violate the professional code of ethics as military leaders and influential people in the government could do anything in their power to control resources in the country.
Chances of corruption are high when the PLA is in the picture. A commercial army could exploit resources and privatize the same resources that were meant for the public domain. The profits gained from the public resources could not be used to benefit the civilians but rather ends up in the pockets of a few individuals.
The use of military equipment to boost civilian production may end up being unethical especially in the case of a new entrepreneur who provides stiff competition. Chances of smuggling illegal items and drugs into the country by the military are high, and hence violence, corruption, and betrayal may end up characterizing the business. The military may also choose not to comply with the set standard of business operations. Decentralization of resources by the army for ownership by the civilians is the most ethical thing to do. When the PLA controls most businesses, there is centralization of resources.
The issues of corruption and smuggling of items possess a significant threat to the ethics and code of conduct incorporated in the guidelines to the joint partnership. When pro-democracy and the PLA clash, and the events turn bloody, business relations with the PLA will be hampered. A conducive and peaceful environment for business operations is necessary. Any violation of the code of ethics is hurtful not only to the executives operating the business, but also the enterprise itself. Violation of business ethics affects the faith people have in the products that are sold by the businesses. The violation of theses ethics when if the protest turns bloody largely affects the overall productivity of the enterprise. There must be transparency, trust and some inspiration where people understand the diverse cultures in China and beyond (University, 2017). A sense of mistrust would emerge between myself and the PLA. Since they are the military, they are the defense forces and ought to provide security to ascertain things do not turn bloody.
The ethical issues involved in partnering with Chinese military are not very different from the same problems that would arise in the moments of exportation to China. Corruption remains evident as people try to control resources and gain total dominance over others. When ethical issues emerge at the time of the trade, it hurts the relations between the countries involved in the trade agreement (Carnegiecouncil.org, 2017). China remains the world’s leading country that practices state capitalism. State capitalism differs from the western type of capitalism in some ways. In China, the state dictates how resources can be allocated and how to value assets. The military, therefore, controls the manner in which resources are allocated in the country.
The political agenda in China’s capitalistic state is complicated. Hence the ethical issues surrounding the global markets in China are different when partnership and exportation are in the picture. Collaboration with the PLA may cause corruption and lack of transparency as well as mistrust. Events could turn bloody when people who advocate for democracy clash with the military who have total control over the resources and are responsible for the allocation of these resources.
