Introduction
It’s prudent for individuals to enhance practical application of ethical standards when it comes to decision making. While determining right conduct, individuals should show on a daily basis their values in action as they make solutions compliant with code of ethics integrated with legal principles.
The solutions made must respect and preserve the rights of other individuals and the business as organization. Families find it difficult to accept that businesses have their ethics and as such a conflict arises and with little pressure the need to keep the personal convictions overrides the needs to adhere to ethical standards of the organizations. Families have had to contend with the fact some decisions have to be bent a little to meet the daily needs of the organization in order not to remain relevant within the organization setup. Since Individuals who are susceptible to erosion of personal code of ethics will have grave psychological strain, they must have stronger commitments to personal values as a means of achieving their gains that comes with arm-twisting their values in order to achieve successes. The options taken should not have negative impacts on individual’s right or organization’s rights.
In business one must be prepared to win and solutions made must promote goodwill while reducing any potential harm that might arise to individuals or business. The executives must be Universalists ready to exercise wide range of knowledge, interests and activities. Some may win within the confines of personal values, in their case it is simple since opportunity presents itself and the need to play within the confines of personal ethics comes naturally. But to the lot, a little pressure compels them to drop some standards of behavior in order to take advantages of the opportunities. The ethical standards may not necessarily mean obligations but “they are simple the behaviors necessary to make a business succeed” (Marianne 50).Individuals may accept critical challenges facing their business than disappoint what they perceive as their moral rights. These are the people who treasure their reputation and standing in the society believing on their personal ethics so much so that they would let opportunity for personal growth pass by but remain within the confines of their personal conscience as opposed to the lot who would stop at nothing in order to ensure the success is achieved this is why the rich and powerful people in the society not stop engaging themselves in white collar crimes like corruption.
Successful business demands solutions leading to honest and open communication. As trust within the business environment will be promoted by truthfulness and total disclosure of all the details as any transaction may demand .individuals are bound to have assured reliance on the character, strength, ability, and truth of a business as desired by business customers .unfriendly business behaviors like crudeness, harshness and cruelness are totally uncouth and one must not be blind when dealing with such scenarios to uphold fairness and justice. Businesses are foreseeable future endeavors calling for immediate action to mitigate the mistakes of today- tomorrow. Setting the business in the confines of personally acceptable codes of behavior is better than having several court battles which end up destroying the reputation of the business in the long run. Whatever decision is made should aim at building reputation of the business with decision made generating more pride to prevent any shame. The business solutions should be made by utilitarian executives who believe that whatever choice of decision they make must have higher measure of utility magnifying the identity of organization. Individuals should act with total responsibility where their decisions alternatives can effectively meet their obligations as corporate citizens. This will ensure efficient community collaborations as the operations of the business will remain involved in community related activities and issues to demonstrate how the business is a responsible community contributor inclusive of cost-benefit gains
Ethics in decision making influences the choices for actions and words, since proper ethical behaviors like right motivation with right action will limit possible violation of stipulated Code of conduct be it perceived, potential or real violations. The executive should have mechanisms of evaluating the individual’s moral preferences and the ethical decisions of an organization as they join to avoid conflicts of interest. To avoid immoral person making an ethical decision, it’s the ethics of any business of an organization that regulate the Unethical behavior of individuals beyond the control of the government machineries. This will ensures individuals Stick with what is right to bring quality in everything they do to protect and enhance the reputation of the entire organization while meeting the expectation of the shareholders, the clients and the community around the organization.
