Apparently, prevalence of a particular pandemic illness host and foster the emergence of various ethical considerations. In this way, the policy makers are left with the obligation of applying the significance of these ethics. In an effort to formulate policies that will be deemed appropriate and valid base on the context of a given pandemic illness. With the above said, this paper seek to establish the importance of ethics to the process of policy making regarding pandemic outbreak and other future pandemic issues.
Firstly ethics is of utmost significance in policy making essentially because it encourages fairness and respect to the victims affected by the pandemic illness (Thompson et al. 2006). With a close consideration to ethical values and principles during the process of formulating policies in regards to the pandemic illness. Policy makers are predisposed to making policies that will in effect bring fairness and exhibit respect towards the victims affected. Secondly, integrating ethics into the process of formulating policies in regards to a particular pandemic illness encourage the assimilation of shared values into health care practices (Thompson et al. 2006). Considering that ethical values are tools used to weigh the effectiveness of the decision that will be subsequently made. Applying or rather integrating ethics into policy making process will in essence foster assimilation of shared values into healthcare practice.
Thirdly, applying ethics into the process of policy making technically serve as a transparent guide, towards making sound judgment regarding the policies to adopt prior and subsequent to the outbreak of the pandemic illness (Thompson et al. 2006). In essence, by applying the use of ethical considerations towards making policies, policy makers are predisposed to establishing policies that will be increase public awareness and confidence towards the policies. Lastly, applying ethics in policy making as it relates to a particular pandemic illness foster reciprocity and flexibility in making policies.
In a nutshell, it is imperative to denote that, applying ethics to the process of policy making regarding pandemic outbreak and other future pandemic issues is fundamental. It foster respect and fairness and provides a means of assimilating share values into health care practice.
