I reside in London, but its Amsterdam, Holland where born and raised. I relate well and identify with artistry. London has almost eight hundred and sixty art galleries where different talents of artists are displayed. At least three of the top ten museums worldwide are situated in London. There are also numerous venues for music performances, including the popular 02 Arena. The Wilton’s Music Hall happens to be a surviving piece of music history in London since 1743. (GLA, 2016) Music Artists like Adele and the late Amy Winehouse who are known to reside in London have risen to be the world’s best sellers. There are hundreds of bookshops and public libraries where one can access artistic literature from poems to novels and the famous Shakespeare’s works.
I feel some sense of solidarity and pride knowing that I reside in the right niche. It makes it easier for me to interact and bond with the London community (Sullivan, 2014). I am talented in painting and spoken word which is why I love the art of poetry. I am a mostly jack of all trades considering that back in Amsterdam I participated in a set piece choir. As an immigrant from Europe to the UK, nothing gives me more satisfaction than to find a similar group identity to fit into. London is full of residents and immigrants who speak over 300 languages, hence the culturally diverse nature of the city. Europe immigrants receive poor reception owing to racism and unemployment (The Economist, 1992). London has improved my quality of life over time because it opens me up to living proofs of artistry. I live in a peaceful environment full of what I love which gives me some level of self-realization.
