Health is a critical issue and part of human existence as it affects the general performance of a person. It has been identified that people tend to forget about past experiences and end up repeating them all together in the future. The statement that experience is the best teacher applies in all aspects even in health promotional programs. This has been taken as a slogan that is being used to sensitize individuals from undermining past experiences.
With an aim of preventing health problems from recurring, since prevention is better than cure, the health care specialists have been able to come up with promotion slogans that are meant to remind people on how past health conditions were brought about and their repercussions since those who forget tend to repeat the same ending up with the health problem they had initially.
Santayana came up with this school of thought that those who cannot remember the past are condemned to repeat it and support this fact by stating that memory is a beneficial element as it enables people to be in line and avoid things that had occurred in the past and harmed them from being repeated. Health promotion programs are initiated to try and curb the systematic problems inherent in the healthcare services and system in general. As changes occurred in the health care administration, there were several aspects that were not evaluated and designed before implementation of the new systems. This led to accumulation of the past problems in the present. The pitfalls that were experienced during the era of home-care system should be analyzed so as not to be repeated during this third-party payer system.
