Annotated Bibliography
A verbal piece of music that serves the purpose to expose experiences, emotions or thoughts in a bright and creative way, setup by literacy technique variables including rhyme, meter and metaphor and implicate the language for its sound and evocative influence is referred to as a poem and the writer of a poem is known as poet. The scholar after analyzing the significance of poems in the literature discusses articles on the poems briefly in order to extract results for the required awareness and benefits of society.
The scholar exerts extensive research efforts on the articles on the poems to find out the role played by each poet in his respective poem (s). This enables the reader to acquaint with the phases of life that a poet has passed and what were the loop holes that one has to avoid and to abide with the positives learnt after the study of the poem.
Milton selected the type of drama for Samson Agonistes for letting a broad variety of scholars share in the wealthy paradoxes and quandaries of his lyrical dream of human experience without considering every scholar a balanced comprehension of his religious and intellectual thoughts. Auden emphasizes the value of time and expresses his regret for individuals that are not capitalizing their worth in life. He has an opinion that time does not wait for anyone and individuals must keep this critical point in their minds to consider it as treasure. Elizabeth Bishop wrote this poem after getting impressed by a winter morning when there was a great depression for breakfast scarcity in the year 1935. A “Wonder Bread” was introduced by her friend and this sarcastic name ignited her mind. The inspiration made Bishop to develop her sestina around the class of wonder for a physical object and emphasizes its importance for individuals suffering from without it. The speaker of this poem represents his soul with the help of illusion. The night was the variable to explain his soul, depression, loneliness and isolation. The statement of the speaker “out-walked the furthest city light” specifies that he has left the right direction which is similar to Dante’s first Canto. The author in his poem believes that indulging one with thought assures cure. He has an opinion that if someone is preyed to confusion then one does not need to hesitate that is slightest of all must we discontinue short and conceal ourselves in the imaginary tale but that we must depart onward. The poet has expressed his views about the death in a peculiar way and conveys his message of everlasting life and encourages people to not afraid with this universal phenomenon. This poem encompasses the diverse aspects of death and reveals that when an individual gets die, it may not be called as technically dead but it may be said that the body is resting and the individual’s soul has departed from home and lives forever in another body or paradise.
A new knowledge that Milton has shared that individuals find in them the similar Christian humanist world of the marathons that was viewed by philosopher Cicero and the Apostle Paul himself and submission to tragedy results in experience graver, great inclination towards morality and spiritual rise compare to Paradise Lost. Auden has narrated methods that encompass the application of techniques to reveal time as a metaphor that involve deeper sense of authority and apprehension. Elizabeth has brought awareness to the society and attracted individuals who are passing luxurious life. She proposes to affluent that are passing luxurious life to consider individuals in their society that are suffering for even coffee and bread where these items are in abundance. The speaker of this poem has done extensive travelling in night at different seasons and it may bring different interpretations to different individuals. The speaker emphasizes people to walk around at night and apply the poem interpretations personally to experience the difference.
The study of the articles on the poems enable scholar to identify the uniqueness in the world of poems and poets that there is no ending point or conclusion. The poets has shared their remarks for the field that it is as species that stands beyond means invisible, as Music which is positive, as sound that beckons and many other unique terminologies have been used to praise the world of poems. The scholar after reading this manuscript will be able to evaluate his personality in the context of professionalism and successful implementation of the renowned authors assures expected return for him and for the society as a whole.
