The assignment has a timeline of 1598 words exclusive of the cover page and the sources, all these words describe the requirements of the assignment. The assignment has three diagrams; the diagrams describe the Real GDP and the Real Median income of the household, unemployment rate since the year of 1950 to the year of 2010 and Job creation and unemployment rate. The three diagrams are obtained from the Labor Bureau of Statistics, and they give a good visual impression of the rate of unemployment in the time series. The timeline I followed while creating my short assignment #3 consists of the following effects:
1. Problem definition.
The problem defined in the assignment is the effect of unemployment; the paper analyzes the negative influences of the rate of unemployment in the foreseeable future on the national economies
2. Background of the stated employment
The problem with the increased rate of unemployment could have been caused by the recession in the world which started in the year 2007. This recession in the whole world brought the significant increase in the rate of unemployment; some of the unemployment is a long time. The rate of unemployment is beyond 10% in major regions of the globe including the developed countries. The background on the state of the unemployment rate is well highlighted in the paper.
3. Literature review
This is a step in the research that has been significantly described in the assignment; there are various articles that have been reviewed to give a description on how the unemployment rate has impacted on the economies of the world. An example of the literature reviewed is Short and Long-Term Effects of Unemployment on Fertility by Currie Janet.
4. Data and results
The paper obtained the data and the graph on the rate of unemployment from the Bureau of Labor Statistics. The data and the graphs are well described in the paper; the graphs show the GDP and the household income, the rate of unemployment and the job creation and unemployment rate. The paper tries to monitor the rate of unemployment along the time series and the effect that the rate of unemployment has had on the economies of the world. The graphs give a clear visual impression of the rate of unemployment over the years.
5. Information Citation
The paper has cited all the information that it has obtained concerning the rate of unemployment and the effect that it has had over the years. The graphs have been obtained from the Bureau of Labor Statistics. These citations can help in the case there is a future research that is to be carried out concerning the rate of unemployment and the effect on the economies of the world.
The extend the account provides the exact truth about this process
The sources from which the information has been obtained are very impeccable, take for example the Bureau of Labor Statistics; it is a source that provides the information with high credibility, reliability and of integrity. Other sources that have been cited in the paper are also impeccable; this supports the ideas and opinions that are indicated in the paper of the research. Therefore, the research documentation is perceived to be of legitimate and credible reasoning; this portrays the information to be of high value regarding the truth.
Part of the context of discovery
The part of the discovery in assignment #2 is the section that gives the statement of the problem. This part of the assignment #2 describes the discoveries in the field of unemployment; this is shown in the first paragraph of assignment #2. Even though the economy of the world has witnessed an increase in the rate in the sector of unemployment, the significant increase in the rate of unemployment could have been due to various reasons, one of the major reasons being the global recession. The impacts that the rate of unemployment has had on the economy of the world are described in the paper; the paper describes three impacts of the rate of unemployment on the economy.
The context of justification
The increase in the rate of unemployment among the citizens who are skilled has had adverse effects on other members of the staff. This has also lead to the discouragement of the students taking undergraduate degrees since they feel the market may not absorb them in the long run after the completion of the degree. These have negative impacts on the psychology of the students hence some may experience poor performance. The long impact will affect the economy of the country. This was the part of assignment #2 that was about the context justification. The justification for the significant increase in the rate of unemployment can be seen in the section of data and the results. The justification is regarding the graphs that show the rate of unemployment over the past years. The data and the results section give justification to these discoveries in the rate of unemployment and the effect on the economies of the world. The graphs also give the context justification.
Hypothesis
In the statement of the hypothesis of the assignment 2, the hypothesis would be falsified in the case that they are not falsifiable. All three hypotheses will be considered.
1. The reduction in the level of domestic demand translates to a diminishing level of income among the people in a nation. This hypothesis is not falsifiable, to make it falsifiable, it should be written this way; there is dependence between domestic demand and income level per person.
2. The reduction in the level of the income that is generated by most of the business leads to a low level in the number of the jobs that are available; this is synonymous with the people who are highly qualified. This hypothesis is not falsifiable because it is not possible to prove it otherwise or false, a decrease in the income of the businesses will reduce the available jobs, it cannot increase the jobs. To make this hypothesis falsifiable, it should be written this way; there is a relationship between the income of a business and available jobs.
3. The reduction in the job availability in a nation makes the majority of the staff to stay for long without employment or to consider some part time assignments or jobs; this makes the demand of such people to be about the services and goods within a country. The hypothesis is not falsifiable; it is impossible to prove it negative or false. It can be made falsifiable when it is written this way; there is an association between the rate of unemployment and the demands of goods and services.
This paper takes the positive or descriptive approach; this is because the assignment #2 describes what the rate of unemployment is along with what unemployment should be. This is described in the problem statement, the assignment aims at giving description of what employment is all.
These entire hypotheses show the relationship between two variables, the relationship can be either direct or indirect. The direct relationship indicates that when one variable increases in number, the other variable will take the same direction of increase while the indirect relationship indicates that when a certain variable reduces, the associated variable or variables will increase. This means that the relationship is not directly proportional. The structure of the hypotheses in the research shows that the paper takes a positive or descriptive approach.
The normative statement that I can provide discussing how assignment#2 can be improved is as follows: the assignment should use falsifiable hypotheses. This is to allow for the proving of the hypothesis otherwise.
