One Essay:
After reviewing the portfolio of my peer, I got interested in the business ethics research letter most of all. I wanted to know what the author has found out about business ethics, since I had done the same project and wanted to compare our results. However, it turned out to be a paper about decision-making, which is, nevertheless, an interesting subject, too.
I could see that the author has studied many sources before preparing the work. However, it seemed to me that it included only superficial information, without any specific example or clear points. It looks rather like an introduction to a longer work.
Unfortunately, I didn’t see any information about the author’s experience in writing, but judging from the work Business Ethics Research letter I would say that the author has very good skills in word formation and sentence structuring, while some aspects require more improvement, like logic and text structure, in more general meaning.
Thus, I would recommend the author to pay more attention to:
Logics of narration

Journalistic Essay
While reading the journalistic profile about the founder of Starbucks I found a few interesting facts, which were new to me:
Howard D. Schulz has grown up in poor neighbourhood and suffered from financial problems, as well as all his family. This poverty has influences his life very much.
He played football and it enabled him to enter the university, thus one talent opened for him the door to the world of opportunities.
He was selling his blood in order to earn money, which shows him as a person who is ready to do anything to achieve his goal.
He worked for Xerox Corporation as a salesman and got promoted, but he didn’t find himself in this work.
His major sphere – i.e., selling coffee – came from Italy, where coffee is an essential part of the culture.
At first only the ingredients, i.e., coffee beans, tea leaves, and spices – were sold in Starbucks shops
2. The journalistic profile has many differences from the essay analyzed by me in the first point, to my mind. First and foremost, the narration is very easy to comprehend and read. The author starts with the biography of the businessman. Moreover, the author includes references to scholar sources, which presupposes more profound analysis and research work. There are quotations of Schulz himself and a few photos, which are vivid elements in the essay and contribute to conveying the author’s idea. Thus, we can see a certain development of writing skills in the journalistic profile, which is a good sign of thorough work.
3. I believe, Howard D. Schulz is an excellent model to follow for any businessman, writer, or even an average worker. Each person, starting his own business, faces certain troubles and problems which hinder him from reaching his/her dream. Looking at the biography of the Starbucks’s founder, we can get some motivation for our actions assure ourselves that must never give up. A writer who is only starting his career will have many chances to give up and quit, since good writing requires much time and very much effort – one must constantly develop and write every day, no matter if one wishes it or not. More surprisingly, the example of Howard D. Schulz can teach us that sometimes we must follow the wrong path in order to understand what we really need. So, a would-be writer must not be afraid of some different work, since it can bring him new ideas and what is more important – new experience, which is the background of any writer and a good beginning for any story. Thus, I believe the example of Howard D. Schulz’s life is a very good model for any beginner in any sphere, which shows us that the world is an unbelievable matter, where everything is possible. Notwithstanding all the troubles, we must never lose our nerve.
