I work in an industry that produces and sells kiwifruits. Specifically, I work in the marketing sector of that industry. As a newly elected manager of the marketing sector, I have an obligation to monitor and exercise oversight of my area. I have 15 employees that directly report to me. The employees in my group research on market issues. They identify the market trends, market opportunities, market potential areas and emerging markets. Additionally, they analyze the existing markets and propose ways of exploring new markets and sustaining the existing ones.
I will put in place measures of performance evaluation and employee incentives in order to maximize my employees' performance. Firstly, I will manage performance of my employees in various ways. I will start by managing the crises that can arise from employees. Employee crises can be personal or organizational. These crises slow down the progress of working and achievement of market goals. I will ensure that employees understand the importance of ethics at the place of work by imposing disciplinary penalties for those who irrelevantly develop crises. In the case of crises arising from the operations because of difficulties, I will step in to help solve the issues and offer training on the same to prevent future crises. I will also promote action implementation and planning by setting market goals for the industry. Additionally, I will constantly remind the employees to work towards the achievement of the goals. I will also encourage employee relations by listening to employee grievances and attempting to attend to the grievances.
I will evaluate the performance of the employees in my group. The performance evaluation will be a platform for correction and improvement among the employees. Evaluation of the performance of the employees will involve an analysis of their competencies, adherence to policies and regulations of the industry, transparency, accountability, discipline and efficiency at work. I will also promote education in my administration through session training on different issues that could prove difficult for the employees. The education and training will enhance their understanding of their work and enable them to work accordingly, thus improving their performance. To uphold performance of a certain level in the group, I will encourage high levels of discipline among the employees. I will discourage high rates of absenteeism because it slows down working progress. Failure to uphold these performance requirements will result in disciplinary measures like employee termination.
