in Type II Diabetes Mellitus
The article titled Effects of Exercise on Glucose Homeostasis in Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus by David Kelley and Bret Goodpaster was published in one of the issues of the Medicine and Science in Sports and Exercise. The purpose of this article is to examine how physical activity influences the course of the diabetes milletus, whether the higher intensity and dose-response training improve the level of glucose in Type 2 Diabetes Milletus. Firstly, the article describes the features of the type 2 diabetes and why investigation of its mechanisms is important to the modern science. According to the current status of information, physical activity has positive impact on the glucose control in case of diabetes. The scientists used a method of computerized search to find out findings and articles on this issue. They classified several studies and find out that positive effect of physical activity is widely described at the literature related to the type 2 diabetes. However, there are experiments and studies that point out at some caveats regarding physical activity and the fact that nutrition changes in patients’ diet also influence the course of the disease. Therefore, not all the studies are completely objective. As a result, scientists came to the conclusion that physical activity is helpful in case of type 2 diabetes. It can hinder the flow of the disease and reduce the risk of such diabetes type. Definitely, people with high risk of diabetes should pay more attention to physical activity because aerobic exercise or resistance training has positive impact on glycemic control. This study confirms the importance of physical activity for people with diabetes. Yet more studies should be done to prove this effect and to examine the type of exercise.
