Article Review
The article is based on activities of an individual seeking the job of an IT consultant, expecting the worst from the job search. His expectations of facing a hard time finding a job in the job market are short-lived when he lands a job at IBM as an IT consultant due to the recent spin in the labor market for. In recent times, campuses across the country are benefiting from mass hiring by companies in the US Job Market. This is after a snarl in the job market for the past four years.
Research shows that hiring is likely to rise up to 10.2 percent this year only with companies searching for fresh blood to hire despite some of them being under pre-recession levels. The fact that new job-seekers are also receiving numerous job offers is proof that there is a rise in job opportunities. The rise in job offers for individuals with business majors has risen to 10 percent. From the article it is clear that currently in the U.S., the unemployment levels are slowly declining and the number of college graduates getting jobs rising gradually. This means that even start up salaries for job-seekers is rising. Companies are also realizing that their current workforce is aging and hence finding a need to restock their human resource with fresh blood and new talent. I agree with the author of the article that one of the biggest advantages of the recent rise in hiring rates is that its focus is not on engineering, mathematics and computer science students; rather it is seeking students with diverse qualifications. Also students with low grades are given the chance to show their potential.
In my opinion it is an advantage that the job market is finally opening up and more so targeting the young generation which means that college graduates as well as undergraduates get a chance to enjoy employment opportunities at an early age. This means a reduction in crime rates and social evils thus uplifting the U.S economy and social values.
