Today, schools and higher institutions have become an important part of the most of the young people everyday life. Parents send their kids to school with the feeling of confidence in their safety. Campuses used to be a sacred place of studying and receiving knowledge unless recently.
Thus, the author’s purpose is to show how the most famous universities known worldwide face racism and discrimination on a daily basis. The positive aspect of the article is that the author goes in-depth with the topic, when still keeping it short and simple. Clear and direct examples from the universities are provided in the article, which only adds the belief up to the overall impression of the paper.
Additionally, the author has valid evidence, which makes it clear that he or she is well-informed about the topic. The information provided was gathered from a wide range of sources, thus the author has thoroughly checked the information before writing the actual article. Due to the fact that most of the stories and facts seem real, I cannot find any holes in the author’s argument. The fact that one of the boys in Harvard University one day found “nigger” word scrawled on his dorm’s door. Thus, I can state with confidence that the article is lack of bias and misrepresent evidence.
Overall, it can be concluded that to the end of the article the author has clearly reached a conclusive point. Specifically, the author’s principle message implies that racism and discrimination very often happen on campuses of most of the universities. However, only when it comes to the famous institution, for example, Harvard, the media is writing about this kind of incidents, meanwhile similar racial cases remain invisible in the small state universities.
