Menacekeys was born in Fort Worth, Texas. The oldest of two sons, he was raised by his father while his mom served a 12-year prison term for child-abuse for almost killing both his younger brother and him. Consequently, music was always an escape from the reality of his troubled childhood. He discovered a passion for the piano at age five, and learned various other instruments throughout his youth, including drums and saxophone.
At age 15, Menacekeys gained his first taste of the music business with an internship through a House and Electronic based group, Oracale of Dallas, TX (Inertia Records). However, near the end of his internship, Oracale was experiencing success and relocated to Florida; Menacekeys was sixteen and in high school, and was unable to relocate with them. With the internship ended early, as well as falling school grades causing him to lose positions on the high school varsity football, baseball, track, and wrestling teams, he felt wrenched away from his greatest passions in life, music and sports. He dropped out of high school, turning to a life that would offer even more hardship.
At age 18, Menacekeys was arrested for money laundering and counterfeit money. He jumped bail and was on the run for over a year before the past finally caught up with him, and was sentenced to two years without parole in a Texas Maximum Security Prison. At age 21, released from prison, he linked up with other inmates met during his incarceration and started up a record label.
Menacekeys wanted more, so using some profits from the label he co-owned, he started up an entertainment company, hosting notable shows like MTV Tr3s – Pimpeando and NBA All-Star Weekend – Dallas, with recording artist Pall Wall and other entertainment companies including Night Life Entertainment.
Ever more ambitious, Menacekeys moved to Puerto Rico in the late summer of 2010, meeting recording artists De La Ghetto and Alex Kyza of Masacre Musical. After several successful shows on the island, Menacekeys made his move to Puerto Rico permanent, and focused all of his time on his true passion, music.
With his unique ear for sound, Menacekeys started to focus on his production as well as the art of DJing. He began featuring on major radio stations throughout the island, including Mix 107.6 FM La Real and at some of the hottest nightclubs in San Juan. With his growing popularity in Puerto Rico, he captured the attention of record label Masacre Musical, and in 2011, Menacekeys signed to the label, owned by recording artist De La Ghetto. and placed under artist development.
At the end of spring in 2011, Menacekeys moved to Miami, Florida to further his knowledge and talent in the music business. At the end of the year, he flew to Dallas to prepare for his first official tour in 2012, the Menacekeys – HD3D Tour – North America. He will cover virtually every state and country in North America in only six months before continuing his tour overseas. This tour will raise the bar for Menacekeys in the DJ game and as a producer, incorporating the latest technology into his House and Electro DJ sets, including video DJing in 3D and using lasers as midi-controllers to give the audience a night they will never forget. Teaming up with Definition DJs and Serato at the beginning of 2012, in collaboration with super producer Elyga Tamacosa from Duplin, Ireland, as well as 3D animators from all over the world, this one of the first full 3D projects ever attempted by an American DJ, pioneering the way into the future.
