Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) is a developmental, neurobiological condition characterized by age appropriate level hyperactivity, inattention and impulsivity. The criteria for the condition assessment indicate that children with this condition must show hyperactivity, inattentiveness and impressiveness before the age of seven years for over six months. This behavior could be exhibited at home or in school and should leads to a significant impairment in the daily functionality of the child (Nogueira et al, 2014). People with this condition talks excessively, tend to intrude and interrupt others in classroom discussions, conversations and games. Such people also when being spoken to they appear to be inattentive. Study shows that school-aged children exhibiting these characteristics experience abundance educational and academic problems and are also likely to exhibit significant poor academic achievement. According Nogueira et al 2014, about twenty to thirty percent of all affected ADHD have poor reading skills, poor mathematical standardization, and poor grades. Therefore, they have a high chance of repeating a school year
Kashdan et al 2013, research has given me a different perspective of my client. The client might not be suffering from ADHD because he disclosed that his grades were lowering and not that his grades were through poor. Therefore, my next approach will draw so much from this research. First, I will interrogate the client on the basis of this Knowledge to establish whether he suffer from ADHD. Second, through observing the client behavior especially how he talks and his attentiveness in our conversation it will be possible to understand whether he was particularly diagnosed with ADHD. Third, I will be in a position to draw a conclusion on to whether the client has ADHD condition. Thereafter it will be possible to advise the client or if my conclusion will be that he has ADHD it will be possible to find the methods that will improve his concentration and academic performance. For instance, if the client has this condition it will be possible to advice on peer tutoring strategy (Kashdan et al, 2013). The peer tutoring can help in performance improvement as he will get close assistance at his pace.
