Hotspots are areas of a geographical location that has good resources that are endangered. The biodiversity of the earth are areas that have species that need that habitat to survive and not become instinct. The earth consumption is needed for growth, and to maintain supplies that come from these locations.
For a geographical area to be considered as hotspot it had to have no less than 1500 plants that was nowhere else on earth. This situation would be these plants could become extinct or be endangered if that land was disturbed. The other fact that has to be present for an area to be considered a hotspot is to have approximately 29% of land destroyed or less to be considered endangered.
“Hotspots are critical in preserving the plant life not only for keeping the plant safe but for also keeping the species that live in that habitat and depend on it” . Society as whole rely on natural resources to survive and thrive on the earth. It is important for nature to stay protected and for humans to continue to preserve and protect it.
In Africa there is a hotspot that is biodiverse and is the home of many endangered plants. Cape Floristic Hotspot has a variety of different plants that includes five out of 12 plants families that are endemic. “The plants are the geometric tortoise, the Cape sugar-bird, and many antelope species” . It is important to protect hotspots because it preserves our plant life, and helps deter from extinction. Plants and nature keep the earth preserved, and able for humans to live and survive. Protecting the plants, animals, and location for growth and habitat will continue for reproduction to take place.
Timber is a resource that humans use an abundance of. They use it to burn for heat, and to build and construct with projects and homes. Without wood humans would be in need of finding another source of heat, and would need to find another way to build and construct. Land that has been cleared for timbering has lost the preservation of the timber to reproduce and rebirth. The solution of this issue that would not work is to stop cutting trees for products, building, and heat. One way to help level out the issue of tree usage would be to find building material that is as sturdy as trees but of a different product would be better. Or if people would replant a tree for each tree that was cut down to help in the reproduction of trees in the future.
