The peaceful, rather cheerful Boston Marathon completely transformed itself whilst the end when two deadly bombs blasted close to the finish line of the marathon. Three, including an eight year old boy were spontaneous dead, while more than a hundred got injured who were immediately taken to nearest hospitals. The devices which were detonated at about 2.50 pm ET were full of gun powder explosive and ball bearings. The Boylston Street was filled with emergency workers and security officials, who were gratifying those who got injured in the attacks, as they put them into ambulances and gave first aid. The investigation was immediately took over by FBI, with an initial statement that it is too early to say anything about who is involved in the attacks. However, the most common assumption is certainly of a terrorist attack by anti-American forces. President Obama threatened those involved in the attacks in these words, “Any responsible individuals, any responsible groups, will feel the full weight of justice” (Levs and Plott 2013, CBC News 2013, Gabbat and Lovering 2013).
Two more unexploded devices were found the same day, near the marathon’s ending point. It is suggested that whoever planned the attacks, wanted to cause a great destruction and large number of causalities. Officials have took those unexploded bombs into custody to reveal information about any domestic or foreign involvement, from manufacture of the devices and fingerprints over it. Investigating agencies have also acquired warrants of search at suspected areas but no conclusion has met yet (Levs and Plott, 2013)
The explosions made the lives of those miserable who have lost their limbs for life, at least ten amongst the injured. At a place where people were cheering each other and there were percepts of joys and laughs everyone, the blasts spread a grim, in the entire Boston and all across US. Certainly it is a matter of concern that Americans are not safe on their own land, and such sport events could be suspended because of these terrorist activities. Officials must address the issue on urgent basis and try to look for those involved in the attacks. Only in this way, the sufferers of the explosion would feel some condolence and relief. It is not wise to focus Islamic militants every time; officials must look for other possibilities as well such as ethnic extremism and any social conflict. The entire America is with those who suffered from Boston explosions, as in the words of President Obama, “Boston is a tough and resilient town and Americans will stand by Bostonians every single step of the way” (Levs and Plott, 2013).
