Admission Essay
I understand that cardiothoracic anesthesia is an overly complex and dynamic field that needs proper balance of actions and thoughts. I experienced this while serving my residency in anesthesiology where patients presented complex problems relating to assessing preoperative risks, life support during surgery and subsequently transporting the patients to the ICU. Admittedly, most of these problems demanded broad medical knowledge, sound, quick and remarkably informed medical decision making; decisions whose rightness could not be told easily considering that some of the conditions did not present immediate results. Although, I managed to meet the most if the needs of a majority of the patients, particularly in terms of making apt clinical decisions, I am opinionative that a fellowship program will better my practice as a cardiothoracic anesthetist further.
I am enthusiastic and who is very easy to get along with. Additionally, I am a hard working individual who is intrinsically motivated to become a cardiac anesthesiologist. Currently, I long to be a certified cardiac anesthesiologist with exemplary knowledge and skills. In the long term, I envision working in an academic facility while also doubling up as a consultant and doing research part time. I profoundly underscore the role of fellowship on the creation of exemplary medical practitioners. I am convinced this fellowship is going to give me an excellent opportunity to learn how to provide the most spectacular quality of care to patients in need besides instilling in me the clinical experience of how to manage complex thoracic and cardiovascular cases. Again, the fellowship will strengthen in my skills thereby capacitating me to effectively assess volume status of a patient in multiple scenarios. I am hopeful that your organization will offer me a fellowship chance.
