Horace said "Carpe diem." In the time of the ancient Romans, Jonathan Larson proclaimed "No day but today!" and most recently, Drake also took credit for You Only Live Once (YOLO). However, Mae West said: “You only live once, but if you do it right, once is enough”, and that is something I completely agree with. I believe that most youth interprets it wrong and sees you-only-live-one lifestyle from the position of being allowed to do everything as long as it fall under the definition of “must try, must have, must see”. Nevertheless, this phrase is not meant to be a permissiveness to do whatever crazy idea comes in one’s head, but emphasizes on the significance of seizing the right moment and taking advantage of it. We only live once; this is absolutely true, so why should we waste our time for something insignificant?
One time, I had a choice between going sky diving and traveling to a different city with my friends. Although sky diving sounded very fascinating, I carefully weighed my chances and decided that I did not want to risk my life and would much rather spend a day with my mates. I knew that I would be secured if I went sky diving, but no one could guarantee me a 100% safety, while in the case of having fun with my friends I was perfectly sure that I would have the time of my life. I believe, that since we only live once, we have to make each day count and stay well-reasoned and make smart choices, because sometimes taking a risk once costs too much to pay off and is not worth it in the end.
