The upgrade of the school server needed to be done to improve on security and the server space. The project was to last for a period of one month. Presentation to the members had to be made on the importance of carrying out an upgrade. The proposal was either to be done using power point or prezi presentation software. The presentation was to include video of how the server looks and at the same time figures on cost of acquiring the server. The video presentation was to be shared among all members of the panel so that they would make their submission on the improvement.
The prezi presentation software has an ability of including pictures of the servers during presentation, which is a similar characteristic with the power point presentation software. The pictures are supposed to help the panel understand all the details of the servers easily from pictures.
The prezi software has the ability of displaying the presentation to all the members through the web (Wicks, 2013). The power point presentation can only be used on a desktop machine without any ability to have a web-based platform. The web-based presentation will allow individuals within a local area network to have access to the materials of the presentation. People can also make a suggestion on the changes to be carried online without appearing at the physical location of the presentation, as is done using power point presentation. The web-based software will allow the student with accounts on prezi to access the presentation from anywhere.
The nonlinear navigation within the prezi software helps the presenter in making confirmation about previous pages while continuing with their presentation. The power point presentation has a linear guidance that requires the presenter to scroll through several pages before arriving at the preferred page of the presentation. The linear guidance might waste time where the presentation is multiple pages. The prezi software has an ability to attach a video directly from YouTube (Bird, 2012). The power point presentation on the other side only allows attachment from the desktop where the software is running. The ability to attach a video from YouTube will help in sharing the video among multiple students who got access to the universal resource locator of the video. The multiple sharing will allow students to make their suggestions after critical analysis of the video. The power point does not give chances for critical analysis leaving viewers at the mercy of the person making the presentation. The ability to attach video would be used to make attachment of videos already provided on YouTube about the server to be purchased.
The prezi software has an option of choosing templates according to the project requirement. The templates are designed to match the project a person is working on to improve on relevance. The templates provide text area where presenter make notes or make changes with regard to suggestion by project members. The templates in power point presentation lack useful template that would help in planning the project. The lack useful templates lead to need of the presenter of the project developing a design from scratch, which may take the time or not be perfect. The good templates made prezi software the best choice in developing a plan for the server project.
The analysis of the ability of prezi software over those of power point presentation software made it the best choice of writing the project presentation. The software ability to attach videos from YouTube and to include pictures would make it the best tool of making pictorial presentation, which was influential in this scenario.
