Quality, I believe, is far much better than quantity. This has always been my policy since I was a child. Further, I have faith that the among the most prized investments one can undertake is not only education and training, but also investing in humanity. This drives me into realizing my long-term dream of the need to ensure proper use of water in my country. Further, it would be my joy to free water from contamination and hence safe for drinking among other uses. To make all these a reality, education and training have become indispensable in my life. I strongly believe that pursuing a Master’s Degree in Chemical Engineering will make me well endowed with adequate knowledge and skills.
Besides that, my titillation to pursue Chemical Engineering runs through my love for Mathematics and Chemistry all the way from my high school days in Abu Dhabi. This motivated me to seek for admission for a degree program in Chemical Engineering. I was admitted to University of Beirut in America in 2009. I am currently in my fourth year of study. Moreover, I believe that hard work is the main gateway to success. I have pursued computer languages including C++, MATLAB, AutoCAD, Aspen HYSYS, Rosa Aspen Plus, and Loop Pro. I am also proficient in Arabic, English, and French. I also believe that at this day and age, one does not need to only acquire engineering skills. As such, my active participation and contribution towards the Chemical Engineering Students` Society (CHESS) has been of much benefit. This is because I now have strong communication, interpersonal, and team work skills. I also pride myself as an individual who is keen to detail, and who possess strong analytical and quantitative skills. I am confident that these attributes will be of much help not only during my studies, but also during my practise as a Chemical Engineer.
Practical experience offers one a good exposure to real work experience. In addition, practical experience accords one the opportunity to put into practise his or her theoretical knowledge. I am well endowed with experience having served as an intern at Passavant Roediger during summer. This gave me ample time to put into practise all I had been taught. Further, I was exposed to different means of effluent treatment. As such, I was able to apply my theoretical knowledge in reverse osmosis and use of membrane reactors among others. In fact, it was during my stint at Passavant Roediger that my love for Chemical Engineering increased. I was able to rediscover my curiosity for Chemical Engineering and particularly water and waste water treatment.
Since I am interested in Chemical Engineering, I believe that Columbia University is the best institution to pursue my studies from. This is because Columbia University is renowned for producing quality graduates who are adequately skilled through thorough teaching and immense internships. Further, I believe that Columbia University is a good match for my objectives as it offers a serene study and leadership development environment. As such, without any doubt, obtaining a degree from Columbia University will enable me to realize my long term objectives of ensuring people in my country have access to safe water. This is because Columbia University is a significant foundation in developing my career in Chemical Engineering.
