Introduction
Psychology entails the study of how the human mind operates in relation to a given human behavior. Child psychology involves the study of stages a child will have to undergo to develop into a functioning adult. It involves the real psychological process a child undergoes when growing up and the analysis of the problems a child may have while growing up.
A child experiences various developmental aspects as he/she grows up that one should understand. For instance, one should understand that tantrums are normal with children and they determine the strength of character a child will have when he or she grows up. Therefore, one should practice patience and consistency with the child’s tantrum as they become less as the child grows up. Research has shown that tantrums in children are used to express their fear or anger. Therefore, it is important to determine the pattern of tantrums to differentiate the normal and abnormal ones. However, it is important to know that tantrums may be due to mental retardation and forebrain damage.
It is also important to understand what one should do when a child shows hand painting they are doing. It is usually a stage that the child engages in creation of visual effects to express his /her feelings. Therefore, it is important to encourage exploration and creativity to the child using a variety of materials like glue, sticky contact materials (Eagly, 1987, pp.23).
It is of significance to know that when a child attempts to tell one that he or she needs a toy, he or she is developing strategies to manage his or her expression of feelings with support from educators. Therefore, one should give her or him supportive transitions from one activity to another (Gruenfeld, Magee & Galinsky, 2003, pp.466).One should also ensure that the toy a child intends to use is safe i.e. cannot cause any harm to the child.
One should not allow a child to go outside when it is raining as they may contract diseases like asthma, pneumonia etc. It may be also good to know that this is a stage where a child would begin to demonstrate likes and dislikes. Therefore, instead of allowing the child to go outside, it is good for one to allow the child to engage in indoor activities he or she enjoys doing.
Conclusion
It is important to understand the psychology of a developing child to avoid unnecessary caning of children when they behave in a weird manner. This may happen due to the behavioral changes that occur when a child is growing up.
