In the recent past, there are tremendous changes that have been observed in the climate of the world. Climate change is one of the most debatable issue in the world today. In fact, there are those nations which vow climate change has a reality, while others believe the changes taking place in the global climate are just mere changes. Climate change refers to the long term alteration in the climate of a region, planet or location. The shifts are focused on and measured based on the changes of various features that are associated with weather such as wind patterns, temperatures, as well as precipitation. It is also worth noting that, variability of climate is seen as climate change, despite the fact that the average conditions of the weather remain constant (Letcher, 2009). The last decade of the 20th century and the beginning of the 21st century has been marked by the warmest period in the whole world. Studies show that climate change will affect mostly the developing nations. Because these are the features associated with climate change, such as precipitation patterns, weather related disasters, high temperatures, and rising sea level pose tremendous risks to water supplies, agriculture and food (Pittock, 2009). Based on the fact that developing nations fight to eliminate hunger, poverty and diseases, climate change will be a major setback to the achievement of this goal. In general perspective, there are many causes of climate change that are both human and natural, which should be addressed in order to reduce the risks.
Climate change could happen in various ways. Certainly, the causes of climate change are both natural and human nature. This is the reason why the stakeholders responsible for global climate are called for each individual to reduce the activities that cause climate change. Climate change could happen naturally. This happens through the tremendous changes in the intensity of sunlight that reach the earth. Such changes cause cyles of cooling and warming, which have for many years been regular. Based on the natural variability of the earth, climate change happens as a natural occurrence. The variation in the ocean currents and volcanic eruptions also causes climate change to happen (Letcher, 2009). As a matter of fact, the variation of ocean currents affects the precipitation and heat distribution. In addition, climate change could also happen because of human activities. The burning of fossils and other human activities increase the greenhouse gases in the atmosphere. The climate change that was observed in the 20th century was attributed to increase in concentration of anthropogenic greenhouse gas. When the climate change happens, it will affect various activities of human beings, ranging from social, economic and environmental.
There are various solutions to the issue of climate change. Due to its diverse effects on the globe, it is essential to focus on fine solutions to then issue. Addressing the issue of climate change needs an unprecedented corporation in the entire globe. The main step towards finding solutions to climate change is admitting that there is the problem. Some of the solutions to climate change include energy conservation, sequestration, renewable energy, and utilize clean energy (Pittock, 2009). The use of energy effectively plays a crucial role in solving climate change. In this case, the use of fossil fuels should be replaced with sources of clean energy. The transport industry is responsible for carbon dioxide emissions; hence, automobile manufacturers need to produce low carbon emission cars. The government should also put up laws that ban the production of Choloflorocarbons.
