Speech
Dear Audience
The topic of my speech is Climate Changes man-made. As evident form the title, I will briefly discuss the climate changes which are the results of our various activities. I have discussed important issues related to man-made climate changes in my paper and I am here to present a brief summary of those issues.
Various researches have shown that the world climate is constantly getting warmer. These researches include climate models and simulations executed for explaining the global warming phenomena . The basic source of global warming is due to the increase in concentrations of greenhouse gases. These gases include carbon dioxide, methane and water vapors. Large source of carbon dioxide is the burning of fossil fuel by humans. The major portion of fossil fuel is used in industries and transportation . Oil, gas, and coal form major chunk of the fossil fuel consumption. If we continue to burn these fossil fuels with current rate then the predicted consequences are equally disturbing for humanity as well for other species of this world .
Most people think of global warming as just rise in average temperature and do not think of the consequences it brings for life on this planet. The increase in temperature due to global warming is melting glaciers present at both poles hence rising the oceans’ level by several meters. In next few years, this rise of oceans’ level will result in brining most of the coastal areas under water consequently millions of people will have to migrate. The interesting thing here is that these coastal people will be affected by the global warming caused by industrial people .
Another important aspect to consider here is that the global warming will have self-amplifying effects due to the melting of northern hemisphere glaciers hence releasing large quantities of methane gas. Methane gas is one of the major gases which are part of greenhouse effect on this planet. This is an alarming condition for humanity to stop burning more fossil fuel and try to shift to renewable energy sources like solar, wind and water.
Another aspect to consider here is that humans are causing this global climate change but all other creatures of this world including animals, birds and even plants and trees will pay the price. Global warming will also result in shortening the duration of winter season which can be seen in many regions around the world. This shortening of winter will badly affect the wild growth and birds’ migration cycle .
It is important to consider here that the effects of global warming will last for centuries even if we stop burning fossil fuels at this point. This takes our attention to another important fact that the future generations will pay for our careless deeds. So in order to safeguard our future generations from devastating effects of global warming we must try to take remedial actions through all possible means. The situation as of now is still not moving towards any better scenario and we can say that it is just a matter of time that humanity will suffer the consequences of its deeds.
As conclusion to the discussion of climate changes made by human I would say that nature has its own way of teaching lessons. In case of global warming now is the time to wake up and take preventive measures on immediate basis to preserve the available resources and minimize the effects of global warming before it gets too late. At the end the best statement after presenting the current situation can be a final question to ask from humanity. And that is
“For how long, will Humanity keep its head buried in the sand?”
