Who big industrial countries or developed or developing countries.
What carbon dioxide emissions from combustion of fossil fuels, coal, natural gas, and oil.
Where all over the world temperatures are increasing, sea levels are rising, sea ice is melting, precipitation patterns are changing.
When about half of the cumulative global emissions of carbon dioxide CO2 the primary greenhouse gas between 1750 and 2010 occurred in the last forty years.
Why CO2 levels are higher now than they have been for any time during the last 800,000 years. Also, the earth is growing fast and is becoming more industrial every day.
Working Knowledge
The production of CO2 grew during the industrial revolution up until now. However, some scientists state that there is evidence that the earth is going through one of it’s natural cycles, and that this had happened before we came along.
Earth’s climate is changing, and the changes will have an enormous impact on our planet’s people, ecosystems, cities, and energy use. It is going to affect every living thing on the planet. Average global air temperatures are already 1.5 degrees higher than they were at the start of the twentieth century and had risen about 1 degree over just the last
If the United States and China the two biggest producers of CO2 cut their emissions it will have a great impact. They make up 40 percent of world CO2 emissions. China has stated that its emissions will peak by 2030. By that time, it will get 20% of its electricity from carbon-free sources. The United States is vowing to cut its CO2 emissions by 26% below 2005 levels of 19.72 metric tons.
The key to finding such win-win solutions is to move the discussion away from whether climate change is a serious problem to how to stop global warming while preserving everyone's human rights. I think we also need to think about the countries that contributed little none of the CO2 emissions.
We need to cut our CO2 emissions by at least 30 to 40 percent which seems impossible considering that we’ve only managed to cut it by 10 percent since 2005. I think we also need to mandate taking care of the environment and hold each person accountable. Who knows it might be too late for change?
Narrowed Topic Focus: Policies that the American government and other countries all around
the globe will implement to address the issue of climate change
Research Questions:
How does the absence of a stronger policy affect the economy of America and the world at large?
The cost of using renewable energy as a result of mandatory reduction of carbon dioxide will throw America and the world into an economic depression.
The absence of climate change policy that will minimize the effects of climate change will continue to decrease revenue on tourism.
How does climate change affect the health of the Americans and the people all over the world?
The current range and severity of infectious diseases, as well as death toll due to malnutrition, floods, and landslides, as results of the continuous shift in climate call for better public-health systems.
The relevant spread of diseases demands a strong and solid environmental policy with environmental considerations at its core.
What policy should be implemented in order to reduce CO2 in the environment?
‘Carbon taxes’ should be implemented globally in order to encourage less use of carbon-based fuels to decrease CO2.
The ‘cap-and-trade’ system should be implemented globally to reduce greenhouse gas emissions.
Preliminary Outline
How does the absence of a stronger policy affect the economy of America and the world at large?
Introduction
Earth’s climate is changing, and it is predicted to have adverse effects in the lucrative tourism industry.
Examination
A ski season, for instance, when shortened by even 20 percent, could result to $84 million loss a year in tourism revenue.
Exploration
Instead of debating whether global warming is a real problem, the focus should be on creating policies that would address both its effects and causes.
Conclusion
A policy that would decrease the CO2 in the environment, which in turn would neutralize the earth’s temperature, is needed.
