Ethics defines how a society needs to behave in consideration of moral standards. It summarizes how an individual would like to be treated and their reciprocation of the same treatment. A business involves a number of individual working together to create a product or service.
Golden Claw Company is one that has shown strong decisions with the effect of promoting and sustaining corporate social responsibility within the society, and in this case, the globalised society. Golden Claw Company is involved in developing and distributing computer technology and selling a number of computer varieties such as portable media devices, personal computers, software, hardware and hardware accessories and customized mainframes.
I did a bench marking with a similar company in the industry (Apple Company) which strives to ensure that all its leaders, employees and suppliers comply with the rules and regulations to meet the requirements of corporate social responsibility. The company has established a supplier code of conduct that emphasizes on the need to meet human and labour rights, health and safety as well as environmental policies.
The labour and human rights contained within the apple supplier code of conduct elaborates on a number of issues. First, workers should not be subjected to any form of discrimination such as pregnancy tests (Anjana, 2010). In addition, it emphasizes on the need to avoid child labour, involuntary labour, harassment and harsh treatment as well as the observation of working hours. It clarifies that the company employees must have vacation time, leave and holiday periods and in accordance with the applicable laws and regulations of any country in which they operate. Freedoms of associations are highly emphasized in this code of conduct, and so are the rightful remunerations for the employees. The company, health and safety issues, the code of conduct emphasizes on protective measures, occupational injuries and illnesses, industrial hygiene within all the facilities in the working place as well as the need for emergency prevention, preparedness as well as response (Stainback, Robinson, & Tomaskovic-Devey, 2005). The code further emphasizes on the need for the suppliers to form and join health and safety committees through which they communicate their problems, suggestions and complains.
