INTERNSHIP AT UNITY PRODUCTION COMPANY
The internship attended and conducted at Unity Production Inc. was much skillful. The company is located at Kissimmee, Florida. Interactive performance is primarily the aim of Unity Production Company. It is a leading company in the entertainment industry owing to its establishment more than thirty years ago. They create design and produce highly artistic and sensational live entertainment, which is suitable for any event. The internship was under the mentorship of Serge Dulac, who has prolific knowledge in the latest innovations on art. Dulac approached work with a focused spirit of creativity and dedication. His work began from humble beginning like Café Theater, galas, national television, and theme parks. Dulac’s mode of working is due to his long experience in the field.
Work Description and Experience
As an intern, one was responsible for the whole scope of duties. These responsibilities enhanced improvement in the previously learned constructive skills of production and management. Some of these tasks and duties assigned included office maintenance and schedule management. During this period, we assisted the casts and crews in creation of production elements such as sets, props, costumes among others. Other duties assigned were to oversee the pre-production of an upcoming special event.
The interns worked in groups to enhance the organized distribution of the assigned responsibilities. When in a group that organized the upcoming event proposals, we created the promotional plans and strategies. In another group under the supervision of the manager, the group helped with the logistics on behalf of the manager in charge. The knowledge and skills gained earlier in class were very essential during the internship period. These skills acted as guidelines on how to perform various basic tasks. After every week, there was an assignment of different responsibilities and duties. As such, there was good exposure to diverse challenges to solve.
The basic requirements were patience and personal skills. Patience was a basic requirement as the interns required to observe the activities taking place in that particular department. The small issues that seemed to be unimportant were very helpful when it came to production, for instance, costumes can influence the theme of the play. Personally, along with the professions, this internship helped a lot in becoming an advocate for oneself. There were occasions that, one had to express a feeling about things, for instance, when we were staging. The experience reminded me one of the first Internship in “Unity Productions, Inc.’ I found myself becoming more confrontational than I was used to. The achievement was necessary since everybody has a different outlook and perspective on different situations.
New Knowledge and Skills Acquired.
Most importantly during the internship period, affirmed the knowledge learned in the class. In addition, the developed skills required such a skillful additive to become a professional in delivering professional sales presentations during an event, entertainment, or in a venue. Through teamwork, the interns acquired knowledge about event marketing that entailed promotion plans, promotional material, and promotional strategies to any event.
The internship has helped one to be more creative and proactive in creating positive ways to get around several situations, in ways that, the situation entertains every person involved. When assisting the casters, interns were able to communicate with them. The internship enabled the buildup of proper communication skills. Interns were able to express openly how they felt about the cast. In many times, they made recommendations on undertaking some activities willingly, and as such, the intern built confidence, which is a vital tool for enhanced communication.
Plans
The knowledge gained from the internship is bound to maximum application in the future. The objective is to work for a similar company that offered the internship. The experience changed the thinking, by adding more insightful knowledge to the already learned skills. Working as a team in preparation of event marketing and promotion helped to value the significance of teamwork. Through teamwork, we managed to create promotional plans for several events. The internship provided the skill needed in analyzing the effectiveness of event promotional strategies. Difficulties faced during live entertainment plans were also learnt. Therefore, during the opportunity of preparing the cast for the “Cameraman Play”, one felt prepared. In addition, one eliminated the previous notion that staging a play was an easy task that required little effort. These skills cemented some of the attendee’s future interests in these fields.
The internship provided an incredibly different perspective on the world of productions after working in “Unity productions, Inc.” During the internship, one was able to take time and think of the requirements, both personal and professional. The internship was immensely dynamic, and one gained knowledge tools that will enable tackling the next endeavors. The people that one interacted with were immensely welcoming interns. Mr. Serge Dulac, the supervisor and the creator, producer, mastermind of the company, was supportive and taught on how to be gracious and to welcome people warmly. The knowledge will make the future career solid adding an impact on people’s lives.
